Open Letter to Governor Palin Please Support the Democratic Movement in Iran

Open Letter to Governor Palin Please Support the Democratic Movement in Iran

September 7, 2008Dear Governor Palin:

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your nomination as the candidate for Vice President of the United States . As an Iranian/American woman concerned for the situation of my motherland, the country where my ancestors helped build, the country where my parents called home and loved with all their heart and energy , I have been following your candidacy, with much enthusiasm, to see once elected what your team’s policy will be vis-à-vis freedom movement in Iran.

You spoke about fighting your own battles in Alaska with the big oil companies and different lobbying organizations. It hit close to home for me. My compatriots in exile along with myself and my family have also been fighting our battles with some of the same oil companies and certain lobbyist organizations that have been in one way or other, knowingly or not knowingly helping the Mullah regime in Iran to survive, during the past thirty years.

Thirty years ago, Iran a country struggling to move into the 21st century was thrown back into the conditions of the dark ages. The world’s major oil companies, super powers, European business men, radical Arab nations all, came together to lend a helping hand in that venture. President Carter became the flag bearer of it all, accusing the late Shah of Iran’s regime of being corrupt and grossly violating Human Rights .The US President, with leaders of the United Kingdom , France , Italy , Canada and Japan met at Guadeloupe and decided to help Khomeini and his cohorts to replace the Shah’s regime. To implement this policy and to neutralize the Iranian armed forces and police, they sent the US deputy Commander of the NATO forces, General Huiser to Iran , without even informing the Shah. The late Shah writes in his memoirs that the American Ambassador to Iran , Mr. Sullivan, had visited him , time and again , after the Guadeloupe meeting to induce him into leaving Iran , the excuse being “for the sake of his own safety ” He thus left the country Iran, never to return again. A man, who was one of the US ‘s staunchest ally in the Middle East , couldn’t even find a place to get the proper medical attention he needed to treat his lymphatic cancer. The US supported gang of criminals, headed by Khomeini entered Iran and took over the reins of the State in less than a month. During the past 29 years they have done all sorts of misdeeds, including at least 90,000 cold blooded executions. In fact Khomeini started the war with Iraq , because of his plans to export his revolution to Iraq . That was the reason for Sadam’s invasion of Iran , which lead to an eight year long war, with over one million casualties and over $100 billion damage to both sides.

During the nearly past three decades of clerical rule in Iran , the conditions of lives of at least 80% of Iranians has deteriorated. By all accounts today nearly 50% of the population of the country, live bellow the poverty line. Civil and political rights are nonexistent and cultural life is absolutely under the control of the regime. Torture and capital punishment abounds all over the country. Discrimination against women and religious minorities is deplorable.

I don’t think I need to remind you of the US embassy hostage takings in Tehran or to bring to your attention the foot prints of the Islamic Republic in the bombing of the US Embassy and the US Army barracks in Lebanon, the bombings of the U.S. Army Headquarters in Al khobar, Saudi Arabia , the bombings of the Argentine Jewish Center and the safe haven which for many years they provided for Al Qeida operatives moving back and forth between Europe and Afghanistan through Iran , without stamping their passports. The Islamic regime is and has been involved in funding, training and harboring terrorists and terrorist organizations from different parts of the world. They are known to be meddling in the internal affairs of Iraq and Afghanistan .

The reason I am going back to nearly thirty years ago is for you to get a vivid picture of what we are battling today against and why.

Dear Governor Palin, your opponent Senator Biden has been supportive of the Islamic Republic’s apologists here in the United Sates. He has also allowed them to do fund raisings for him. He is known to have supported their organizations such as the American Iranian Council (AIC), the same organizations protected by some of the same Oil Companies you fought against. Please go to their site and see those companies listed as their sponsors: http://us-iran.org/home.php?mains=10&subs=172

I have provided links to articles regarding Senator Biden’s involvement with the Islamic Republic apologists (since 2002). Please take the time to read these, I think these could be points to bring up during your debate with him.

http://www.newsmax.com/timmerman/bdein_ties_to_tehran/2008/08/26/125165.html

In conclusion I want you to know that these quotes from your speech truly impressed me:

“Terrorist states are seeking nuclear weapons without delay … he wants to meet them without preconditions.”

Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America … he’s worried that someone won’t read them their rights? Government is too big … he wants to grow it.

In my opinion if the US would truly stand today with the people of Iran and support them with their aspiration to bring about regime change, there is no need for any military involvement. The people of Iran have educated themselves and know that through acts of non-violent civil disobedience regime change is very possible with minimal bloodshed and violence. Just as it happened in South Africa , in Ukraine , in Serbia ….. The Iranian people, in my opinion today need the true constant signal of support of the United State to make it happen.

As a woman watching the deterioration of women’s rights for the past thirty years and the suffering of the youth in my motherland I can not and will not sit quiet. I decided to write to you regarding these issues to paint a better picture of what can be done, and hope the information I have provided to you will be helpful in your campaign.

With my utmost respect.

Palin: Phantom Of The Oprah

Palin: Phantom Of The Oprah

By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Monday, September 08, 2008 4:20 PM PT

Media Bias: Oprah Winfrey won’t invite Sarah Palin on her show because she doesn’t want to use it to promote any candidate. Yet she was willing to use the celebrity garnered from her show to promote Barack Obama.

This is the classic distinction without a difference. Oprah is one of those one-name celebrities. Her very mention of a book’s title can make it a best-seller. When Oprah speaks, people listen.

People listened earlier this year when she bypassed Sen. Hillary Clinton to publicly embrace the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama, who had been on her show twice — in January 2005 and October 2006.

Oprah, right, Michelle and primary candidate Barack in New Hampshire in December. No room for Palin on this platform.

Oprah has influence, and she used that influence to help Obama. She said she endorsed him as an individual and not as a talk show host. She says when he was on her show he was not yet officially a candidate and that her policy is not to use her show to advance the cause of any candidate. Or is it just Republicans?

The endorsement of Oprah the beautician or Oprah the sales clerk at a department store cosmetics counter would have no impact. Using her celebrity as the No. 1 talk show host does. Obama doesn’t have to appear on her show once she’s publicly endorsed him.

A study by two University of Maryland professors found that Oprah’s endorsement of Obama may have netted him 1 million votes in his primary run against Hillary Clinton. The Obama campaign said her rallies produced 10,000 new volunteers, 650 volunteers in critical New Hampshire alone.

Her decision to endorse Obama on “Larry King Live” on May 1, 2007, over Hillary did not come without a cost. An August 2007 CBS poll found her approval rating had dropped from 74% just seven months earlier to 61%. How many were Hillary supporters?

Maybe that’s what she’s afraid of. A too aggressive or patronizing Palin interview might turn off hockey and soccer moms everywhere. Palin’s mere presence would remind Hillary voters of both her endorsement snub and Obama’s veep selection snub.

Oprah’s claim of fairness falls flat when you consider that, according to the Drudge Report, she blocked an appearance by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as part of his book tour promoting his autobiography.

Oprah Winfrey has an agenda, one that does not include giving any kind of national exposure to women and African-Americans who are Republican and conservative and articulate. These are species not supposed to exist and might shatter the liberal myth that Republican conservatives are misogynist racists.

Of her enthusiasm for The One, she says: “What I saw with Barack Obama was something that was transcendent, and I felt transformational for me as a human being and for this country. And I only pray in the deepest part of my being that America will rise to this moment. And I feel that what he was able to offer us as individual citizens and as a united country was something that we have never seen before. I really, I think it’s the most powerful thing I’ve ever experienced.”

Like most of the media and the entertainment industry, Oprah is in the tank for Obama. When Obama speaks, tingles run up and down the legs of MSNBC’s Chris Matthews. When Obama gave his acceptance speech in Denver, Oprah said she “cried my eyelashes off.” She probably would not have been surprised if he had fed the crowded stadium with five loaves and two fishes.

Oprah says that having the female governor of Alaska, the first female on a national GOP ticket, on a show with a largely female audience might influence the election she’s already tried to influence.

We know the articulate and engaging Alaskan governor would win some new friends.

So how about having Gov. Sarah Palin on one show where she can talk about her smashing the political glass ceiling to become the ultimate working mom? Then have Sen. Joe Biden on the next day where he can explain to Oprah’s audience why he thinks Sarah Palin is “good looking.”

Obama’s Muslim connection

Is Barack Obama a Muslim wolf in Christian wool?

Is Barack Obama a Muslim wolf in Christian wool?
By Reuven Koret  March 27, 2008

The glib handling of criticism of his relationship with the anti-American (“God Damn America!”) and anti-Israel (“a dirty word for Negroes”) Reverend James Wright may have bought him a little time. But the legacy of dissimulation about his long-concealed identity is about to come crashing down around the ears of Barack Hussein Obama, courtesy of the assembled testimony of his family, friends, classmates and teachers.Obama’s official campaign site has a page titled “Obama has never been a Muslim, and is a committed Christian.” The page states, “Obama never prayed in a mosque. He has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ.”

Yet the accumulated research from primary sources who knew Obama from his childhood indicate that he was a devout Muslim, the son of a devout Muslim, the step-son of a devout Muslim and the grandson and namesake (“Hussein”) of a devout Muslim. He was registered in school as a Muslim and demonstrated his ability to chant praise to Allah in impressive Arab-accented tones even as an adult. Just as he has not disavowed his “uncle” Jeremiah, neither has he disavowed his Muslim faith that he was born into, raised with, celebrated and never abandoned. He just covered it over with a thin veneer of his own self-styled “Christianity.”

Although as an adult he would register as a Christian, and occasionally attend a Christian Church (but apparently not often enough to listen to the preaching of his pastor, or so he would claim) this was a necessary step for a man who from earliest boyhood has nurtured the precocious ambition to be President of the United States.

He was entered into the Roman Catholic, Franciscus Assisi Primary School, in Jakarta, Indonesia, on January 1, 1968, registered under the name Barry Soetoro, an Indonesian citizen whose religion was listed as Islam. Catholic schools accept non-Catholics worldwide. Non-Catholic students are typically excused from Catholic religious instruction and ceremony, but are expected to study their own faith.

In kindergarten, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want to Become President.'”Iis Darmawan, 63, Senator Obama’s kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,’ the teacher said.” [AP, 1/25/07]

Three years later, in 1971, Obama enrolled in the Besuki Primary School, a government school, as Barry Soetoro, Muslim. In third grade, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want To Be a President.’ His third grade teacher: Fermina Katarina Sinaga “asked her class to write an essay titled ‘My dream: What I want to be in the future.’ Senator Obama wrote ‘I want to be a President,’ she said.” [The Los Angeles Times, 3/15/07]

All Indonesian students are required to study religion at school and a young Barry Soetoro, being a Muslim, would have been required to study Islam daily in school.

He would have been taught to read and write Arabic, to recite his prayers properly, to read and recite from the Quran and to study the laws of Islam.

In his autobiography, “Dreams From My Father,” Obama mentions studying the Koran and describes the public school as “a Muslim school.”

“In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Koranic studies.”

According to Tine Hahiyary, one of Obama’s teachers and the principal from 1971 through 1989, Barry actively took part in the Islamic religious lessons during his time at the school. “I remembered that he had studied “mengaji” (recitation of the Quran)” Tine said.

The author of the Laotze blog writes from Jakarta: “The actual usage of the word ‘mengaji’ in Indonesian and Malaysian societies means the study of learning to recite the Quran in the Arabic language rather than the native tongue. “Mengagi” is a word and a term that is accorded the highest value and status in the mindset of fundamentalist societies here in Southeast Asia. To put it quite simply, ‘mengaji classes’ are not something that a non practicing or so-called moderate Muslim family would ever send their child to. To put this in a Christian context, this is something above and beyond simply enrolling your child in Sunday school classes.”

“The fact that Obama had attended mengaji classes is well known in Indonesia and has left many there wondering just when Obama is going to come out of the closet.”

“As I’ve stated before, the evidence seems to quite clearly show that both Ann Dunham and her husband Lolo Soetoro Mangunharjo were in fact devout Muslims themselves and they raised their son as such.”

The Obama Campaign told the LA Times he wasn’t a “practicing Muslim.” (3/14/2007). But his official website says: “Obama Has Never Been A Muslim, And Is a Committed Christian” (11/12/2007)

That’s not what his friends and classmates have said. Classmate Rony Amiris describes young Barry as enjoying playing football and marbles and of being a very devout Muslim. Amir said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam. We previously often asked him to the prayer room close to the house. If he was wearing a sarong, he looked funny,” said Rony.

Amiris, now the manager of Bank Mandiri, Jakarta, recently said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam. His birth father, Barack Hussein Obama was a Muslim economist from Kenya. Before marrying Ann Dunham, Hussein Obama was married to a woman from Kenya who had seven children. All the relatives of Barry’s father were very devout Muslims”

Emirsyah Satar, CEO of Garuda Indonesia, was quoted as saying, “He (Obama) was often in the prayer room wearing a ‘sarong’, at that time.”

“He was quite religious in Islam but only after marrying Michelle, he changed his religion.”
So Obama, according to his classmates and friends was a Muslim until the confluence of love and ambition caused him to adopt the cloak of Christianity: to marry Michelle and to run for President of the United States.

In “Dreams,” Obama sheds light on his formative years and the political views of his mother, an anthropologist and Islamophile who hated America and subsequently “went native.” (It was her mother — Barry’s “other” grandmother who cared for him in his druggie teenage years — that he would describe as a “typical white person” who was, he said scoldingly, fearful of black men and prone to making stereotypical racial remarks.)

Obama Senior also had three sons by another woman who are all Muslim. Although Obama claims Senior was an atheist, Senior was buried as a Muslim.

Barack Obama’s brother Roy opted for Islam over Christianity, as the Senator recounted in his book when describing his 1992 wedding. “The person who made me proudest of all,” Obama wrote, “was Roy. Actually, now we call him Abongo, his Luo name, for two years ago he decided to reassert his African heritage. He converted to Islam, and has sworn off pork and tobacco and alcohol.”Abongo “argues that the black man must “liberate himself from the poisoning influences of European culture.” He urged his younger brother to embrace his African heritage.

In Kenya while he was a Senator, Obama stumped for his cousin, opposition leader Raila Odinga, the son of Senior’s sister, a direct first cousin and nephew of Obama’s father.
On August 29, 2007, Raila Odinga and Shiekh Abdullah Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum of Kenya signed a Memorandum of Understanding in which it pledges the support of Kenyan Moslems for Raila’s election. In return, as President of Kenya, Raila agrees … within 6 months re-write the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Shariah as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions [and] within one year to facilitate the establishment of a Shariah court in every Kenyan divisional headquarters — everywhere in Kenya, not just in “Muslim declared regions” — and to popularize Islam, the only true religion … by ordering every primary school in Kenya in the regions to conduct daily Madrassa classes.

In an interview with the New York Times, published on April 30th, Maya Soetoro-Ng, Obama’s younger half sister, told the Times, “My whole family was Muslim, and most of the people I knew were Muslim.”

Obama describes his new found “Christian” faith as: (1) Suspicious of dogma (2) Without any monopoly on the truth (3) Nontransferable to others (4) Infused with a big healthy dose of doubt, and (5) Indulgent of and compatible with all other religions.

On February 27th, speaking to Kristof of The New York Times, Barack Hussein Obama said the Muslim call to prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

In an interview with Nicholas Kristof, published in The New York Times, Obama recited the Muslim call to prayer, the Adhan, “with a first-class [Arabic] accent.”
The opening lines of the Adhan (Azaan) is the Shahada:

“Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet….”

According to Islamic scholars, reciting the Shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith, makes one a Muslim. This simple yet profound statement expresses a Muslim’s complete acceptance of, and total commitment to, the message of Islam. Obama chanted it with pride and finesse.

An American Expat in Southeast Asia blog, written by an American who has lived in Indonesia for 20 years and has met with both the Taliban and al-Qaeda, contains the following:

“Barack Hussein Obama might have convinced some Americans that he is no longer a Muslim, but so far he has not convinced many in the world’s most populous Muslim country who still see him as a Muslim and a crusader for Islam and world peace.”

“Barack Hussein Obama’s race, his staunch opposition to the war in Iraq, his sympathy to Islam and Muslims worldwide and his Muslim heritage receive the Indonesian media coverage. There is no mention of his apostasy.”

“A good example of how some of the Indonesian media is reporting on Obama’s religion can be found in the following.”

“What I found interesting in the article was the use of the word ‘mengaku’ when refering to Obama’s conversion from Islam to Christianity. The word ‘mengaku’ in Indonesian means “claimed” and as such leaves the insinuation to the native Indonesian reader being that Obama might actually still be a Muslim.

But this is how Indonesians see Obama, they don’t see him as an apostate at all, they see him as a crusader for the cause of Islam.”

Obama wants it both ways, has always wanted it both ways. Black and white, Indonesian and American, Muslim and Christian. He loves playing one off the other, using one to hide the other even as the traces of the truth may be assembled to reveal the whole cloth of deception and self-promotion he has been weaving so skillfully since his childhood. No wonder he is a man of change. He IS a changeling, a veritable chameleon, adapting and amending his life story to fit the circumstances.

The charm may have worked once. It still works on some. It won’t work forever in the age of the Internet. The fog of ambiguity and dissimulation is dissipated by the harsh, unforgiving and scrutiny of the blogosphere and its unlimited access to historical facts and time-stamped testimony.

Many have been puzzled why Obama could claim not to be familiar with Wright’s rants. It turns out the Trinity Church, like many African-American churches, happily accepts believing Muslims within its congregation. And evidently many Muslims have no problems surrounding themselves with an anti-American, anti-Israel preacher who week in and week out wins the amens of his adoring congregation.

On Feb 15/08, Usama K. Dakdok, President of The Straight Way of Grace Ministry called Obama’s Church and reported the following conversation: ” I then asked the person who answered what I needed to do to join. She told me that I needed to attend two Sunday School classes in a row and then I would walk the aisle. I replied, “That sounds easy. One last question please. If I am Muslim and I believe in the Prophet Mohammed, peace be unto him and I also believe in Jesus, peace be unto him, do I have to give up my Islamic faith to be a member in your church? She answered: “No, we have many Muslim members in our church.”

Indeed.

Credit for these reports and revelations — assembling the statements of those who love and admire Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama — belong primarily to the writers, researchers, and journalists cited in and contributing to the above references. Special hat tip to Ted Belman of Israpundit for putting most of the pieces together. One can be sure that more, much more, is on the way, before the first black muslim president enters the White House. Or not.

Obama’s 143 Days of Senate Experience

Just how much Senate experience does Barack Obama have in terms of actual work days? Not much.

From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That’s how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.

After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan.

143 days — I keep leftovers in my refrigerator longer than that.

In contrast, John McCain’s 26 years in Congress, 22 years of military service including 1,966 days in captivity as a POW in Hanoi now seem more impressive than ever. At 71, John McCain may just be hitting his stride.

      Think about IT!!!

Think you know who this man is?
This possible President of the United States !! Read Below and
ask yourselves, is this REALLY someone we can see as the
President of our great nation?

Below are a few lines from Obama’s books; In his words!

From Dreams of My Father: ‘I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13,! when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.’

From Dreams of My Father : ‘I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.’

From Dreams of My Father: ‘There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.’

From Dreams of My Father:  ‘It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.’

From Dreams of My Father: ‘I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa , that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.’

And FINALLY the Most Damming one of ALL of them!!!

From Audacity of Hope: ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’

* If you have never forwarded an e-mail, now is the time to Do so!!!!  We CANNOT have someone with this type of mentality running our GREAT nation!

Biden’s sweetheart housing deal

Biden’s sweetheart housing deal

Ed Lasky

When the media camped out in front of Senator Joe Biden’s house on the day it was announced that he would be Barack Obama’s running mate I wondered how did he afford his “family compound”?

After all, the Democrats made much of his “hard-scrabble” childhood (decades ago). He spent almost his entire adult life on a Senator’s salary – which may seem munificent to the average American but certainly is not family compound money. His wife is a doctor and that might help. Maybe his son who was a high-level executive at a credit card company (MBNA) at a tender age and now lobbies for credit card companies (an area that Joe Biden has a great deal of influence over in the Senate) was of help.

However, he seems to have enjoyed some cozy arrangements that have benefited him enormously – benefits that are the invisible fringe benefits of being a powerful Senator.
He seems to have enjoyed a sweetheart real-estate deal courtesy of two political donors (Delaware’s Rezkos?)
While their earnings probably would not be enough to purchase their Greenville estate today, the Bidens have managed to live in such splendor partly because of two financially rewarding real estate deals with political supporters.

In 1996, Biden sold a home in Greenville for the asking price of $1.2 million — more than six times what he paid two decades earlier — to John R. Cochran III, a top executive at the MBNA credit card bank that was a longtime political benefactor.

Using profits from that sale, Biden paid $350,000 cash to real estate executive and developer Keith D. Stoltz for 4.2 vacant acres — a long, narrow lot a few miles from Biden’s old home. Stoltz had bought that same lot five years earlier for the same price.

Stephen Pyle, who sold the land to Stoltz in 1991, said he was surprised that Stoltz, who lived on a neighboring estate, did not make any profit selling to Biden. “That doesn’t sound like Keith Stoltz,” Pyle, an artist who now lives in Texas, said of Stoltz, whose company recently proposed a $525 million project at nearby Barley Mill Plaza, a former DuPont Co. office campus.

Any other suspect benefits? How about having a “cush” job whose hours are cut in half but you get the same pay? Not bad-let’s hope he is as good negotiating foreign policy deals for the nation as he is negotiating financial benefits for himself.
Sen. Joseph Biden (Del.), the Democratic vice presidential pick, is the only Member of the Senate who is also being paid to be an adjunct university professor, and his pay for that job did not decline when he cut his teaching time in half five years ago.
Professors must have a lot of time on their hands or how else can they so often spend time on political advocacy? Adjunct professors are part-time professors whose work requirements are even less stressful ( Barack Obama lectureship at the University of Chicago Law School also afforded him plenty of time to be an Illinois State Senator while he planned his political rise).

Biden receives the same pay for one-half the work. He has enjoyed this arrangement for 5 years. This is the same as a doubling of pay.
He is paid $20,500 as a stipend-which places him on the high-end of the pay scale for adjunct university professor. Even then his work duties seem slim, according to the teacher,

Robert Hayman, who was paid to take over the class:

Biden used to teach the course alone, Hayman said, but in 2003, the Senator “went to our dean … and told him he just didn’t have the time to teach anymore.” The two decided that “maybe a possibility to reduce the time in the classroom was by taking on a co-teacher … so they settled on me as his co-teacher, with the understanding then that while he wouldn’t be there for the whole class, he would be there for at least half the time.”

Hayman said that he manages the administrative duties for the class and that he reads all of the student papers and proposes grades to Biden. The Senator may then suggest changes to the grades Hayman has suggested, but Hayman said that is rare.

Hayman expressed skepticism regarding the amount of labor Biden devotes to the class:

“I haven’t had the audacity to ask when he has approved my grades, ‘Well, did you really read them?’” Hayman said.

The Senator remains heavily involved in designing the course syllabus and choosing topics for discussion, Hayman said, and Biden has been more active in suggesting grades for classroom participation. Biden’s primary role appears to be giving lectures and leading class discussions when he is present.

The course met for the first time Saturday, as Biden was being introduced as the Democratic vice presidential nominee. Hayman said that he and Biden spoke Friday and that the Senator still hopes to participate in the class this semester, but it is unlikely they will be able to arrange more than a single class visit.

From my experience at the University of Michigan Law School, class syllabi almost never are changed from year to year; hence, the ability to use study notes from previous years to prepare for exams.
Not bad, Senator.

Tarring Sarah Palin

Tarring Sarah Palin
September 8, 2008

The left lost not a minute in tarring Sarah Palin after McCain selected her as his running mate. Of course they had to be careful—very careful. As hard as they worked, they couldn’t dig up anywhere near as much dirt on this outstanding self-made governor than they have all along covered up for their darling Obama.

What did they do? The cunning leftists are nothing if they are not devious and Machiavellian. It would have been a huge self-inflicted disaster if the men had led the offensive. So, true to form, these unscrupulous leftist cowards hid behind their women’s skirts and let them do their dirty work.

Women vilifying a woman, no matter how baseless and vicious the assaults may be are better tolerated than men doing the dishonorable thing—they are chalked to the nasty game of partisan politics. To the leftists, as is the case in war and love, all is also considered fair in politics.

Here is a woman, by all accounts, a personification of the American story. A self-made woman rising from the heart of the middle class, distinguishing herself as a tireless devoted public servant who had worked through the grades to the governorship post by single-mindedly remaining faithful to the trust of her electorate.

Here is a woman who had no sugar-daddy sponsor to send her to an Ivy League school, but had to work hard on her own with the support of her not-so-wealthy working parents to finish college.

Here is a woman, as wife and a mother of five children, who served in her community to better things for all. She was an active and constructive member of the PTA. Her tireless services in the community impressed the people of the town to elect her as their mayor. All along, she championed the best interest of the people, rather than her own self interest.

Here is a woman who took on the powerful corrupt officials at the state level. She confronted corruptions and the old-boys network. She even challenged the miscreants in her own political party and took on an incumbent governor and beat him without selling herself to the powerful interest groups.

Here is a woman who lost no time in immediately cleaning up the government operations, relieved the incompetent and corrupt officials, and streamlined the budget.

Here is a woman with an astounding 80% approval rating by Alaskan voters.

No wonder the left is petrified by her sudden appearance on the national scene. Spades in hands, they sent legions to dig dirt, while others busily doctored the little specks and spread them through the more than eager leftist media.

Here is the dirt:

▪ She is not pro choice. A cardinal sin? Hardly. She believes that aborting a human being is killing. And no one should have the right to murder another human being. What’s so evil about that.

▪ She believes in a Creator. She believes that schools should be free to present various points of view regarding the creation. What’s so bad about that? Some 90% of Americans believe that there is a Creator. Why not present the facts for both sides and let the students decide for themselves.

▪ She is not a good mother. Why so? Her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is pregnant. That’s why. Well, the daughter and her sweetheart are about to be married and they have refused to commit murder by aborting the unborn, as hundreds of thousands do each year in this country. Is that so bad? Sarah Palin is pro life, for her daughter’s baby and for all women who conceive a life.

▪ She abused her power. When you clean house, you invariably create enemies. People who have been leading a charmed life at the expense of the hard-working citizens of Alaska are of the same cut as the nihilistic leftists. Governor Palin cut out wasteful spending and devoted Alaska’s oil revenues to the needs of the people. She put an end to thievery, incompetence and cronyism. She is a principled decent public servant and not a servant of leaches or interest groups.

▪ She is inexperienced. She is a heart-beat away from the presidency. She is not qualified to assume the office, they say. By far and away she is more qualified to serve as the president than Obama who has not run anything but himself. Working as a community organizer, dealing and wheeling in the corrupt Chicago Democratic organization, and getting elected to the Illinois Senate and eventually to the United States Senate is in no way comparable to Governor Palin’s vast and varied experiences.

The left habitually underestimates the intelligence of the American people. The left is chronically unhappy about America, because it is looking in the mirror and rightfully sees its own disgusting reflection. Any time anyone arises to serve this great nation and aims to keep it on its course toward its glorious destiny, the left recoils.

The left shall fail miserably in tarring Sarah Palin—the lioness daughter of America from this great nation’s last frontier, Alaska.

Gearing Up to Strike Iran

Gearing Up to Strike Iran

According to a recent article (in Hebrew) in the Israeli daily Maariv, Israel’s top political and security officials have taken a decision to attack Iran’s nuclear program if nothing else is done to halt it.

Senior journalist Ben Caspit writes that “the debate between those who think everything must be done, including a military operation, to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb and those who think one can live with it, has been decided. If the Iranian regime doesn’t fall during the coming year, if the Americans don’t deliver a military blow and if the sanctions don’t break the Iranian nuclear program, Israel will have to take action. In other words: the preparations for an Israeli military option…are already underway.”

Caspit adds by way of explanation: “In the Tehran-Jerusalem-Washington triangle, things haven’t been going well. Israel is desperate to get American permission for an attack on Iran, but is not obtaining it…. The shortest flight route to Iran passes over Iraq, where the Americans are in control.”

Instead of the needed overflight codes, Caspit claims, the U.S. is offering Israel defensive radar—“‘We’ll help you defend yourselves, but we’ll prevent you from attacking,’ say the Americans.” That description dovetails with recent reports of opposition to a strike on Iran—Israeli or American—particularly by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell, and Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Michael Mullen. A security source told Caspit that “the Americans have accepted a nuclear Iran and are trying to get us to accept it.” (Another report in the rumor mill has claimed the opposite—that the U.S. is itself preparing for a strike.)

In any case, Israel, according to Caspit, is not at all inclined to countenance a nuclear Iran, and former deputy defense minister Ephraim Sneh (now head of a new political party) has been especially active trying to get that point across. Caspit says Sneh sent a document to both U.S. presidential candidates, John McCain and Barack Obama, in which he stated: “No government in Jerusalem will accept a nuclear Iran. Once it is clear Iran is at the point of nuclearization, an Israeli military action to prevent it will be on the agenda.”

To avoid that, Sneh wrote to McCain and Obama, the time has come for an all-out U.S. effort to get Europe to cooperate in imposing “real” sanctions aimed at toppling the Iranian regime. Those sanctions, Sneh believes, would have to be a complete embargo on replacement parts for Iran’s oil and refined-oil industry and a total boycott of the Iranian banking system.

Apparently aware himself of how hard that would be to achieve, Sneh recently went to Switzerland and Austria—countries that, as Caspit notes, “have announced huge investments in Iranian gas and oil fields for the next decade.”

Caspit quotes Sneh as telling him that “words about a Holocaust of Jews or Israeli security don’t impress those folks.” So instead Sneh told them it was “too bad” about their investments, “because Iddo’s going to set it all on fire”—referring to recently appointed Israeli air force chief Iddo Nehushtan. “‘Investing in Iran in 2008,’ Sneh told the Austrians, ‘is like investing in the Krupp steelworks in 1938, a high-risk investment.’ The Austrians, according to Sneh, turned pale.”

Caspit goes on to mention assessments of the likely military response to an Israeli strike on Iran—not only from Iran itself but also from Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Hamas in Gaza with their stocks of thousands of missiles. It’s with this in mind, Caspit claims, that Olmert has been holding his talks with Syrian president Bashar Assad. Olmert, according to Caspit, has said in closed forums that “Assad is a smart, sober man…. He’s capable of restraint and doesn’t belong to the world of radical Islam.”

1. Caspit’s status and contacts as an Israeli journalist mean his report shouldn’t be taken lightly. Israel is indeed in political flux, with Olmert possibly facing indictment on corruption charges and his Kadima Party set to hold primaries in less than two weeks that may further lead to general elections. Caspit describes, however, a situation where alarm at Iran’s nuclear progress is predominant, with left-of-center Labor Party figures like Sneh and Defense Minister Ehud Barak among the most alarmed. And as if Israel’s political flux wasn’t enough, its leaders will naturally be watching keenly what happens on November 4 and—if there are still no major events in the security sphere by then—will see the situation as even more stark if the winner is someone who believes everyone is basically nice and just needs to be talked to.

2. Caspit describes the Israeli leaders as, albeit deeply concerned, having a time frame that may not be realistic. Britain’s Sunday Telegraph reports that both the U.S. and Israel now fear that Russia stands to supply the sophisticated S-300 air-defense system to Iran in retaliation for Washington supporting NATO membership for Georgia and Ukraine. The S-300 is so effective that it’s said to be a “game-changer” that would rule out an Israeli raid and seriously complicate a U.S. attack. The system would take up to a year to become operational but the Israel sense of urgency would only be escalating.

3. It’s striking how loath even some Israelis like Sneh, who have no illusions about the Iranian threat, are to give up on the idea of concerted sanctions against Iran in which the Europeans would participate. In addition to Sneh’s Austrian and Swiss interlocutors, most recently Germany—led by the ostensibly conservative, pro-American Angela Merkel—has granted permission to the SPG engineering firm to build three plants in Iran for liquefying natural gas in a 100-million-euro deal. Even in the close-to-impossible scenario that Europe would at last sign on to severe sanctions, Iran’s friends outside the NATO sphere like Russia, China, and India would help it get past the rough patch.

4. Also striking is Olmert’s ongoing insistence on Assad’s reasonableness and potential benign role even in the aftermath of the Syrian leader’s trip to Moscow where he reportedly requested his own S-300 system as well as offensive weapons capable of affecting the Israeli-Syrian strategic balance. Olmert apparently is also not impressed by Assad’s praise for Russia’s invasion of Georgia and what that says about Assad’s geopolitical alignment. Although not shared by the current Bush administration, the belief in the Assad pere et fils regime’s pliability and openness to be enticed—with the Golan Heights—into the Western camp despite decades of drastic evidence to the contrary appears to be an incurable affliction.

5. Although current Israeli leaders Olmert, Barak, and Livni are aware of how badly Israel’s strategic position is complicated by the Hezbollah threat in Lebanon and the Hamas threat in Gaza, creating the possibility of a four-pronged missile barrage in addition to Syria and Iran, these leaders have not been able to draw the right conclusions or improve the situation. Despite frequent threats to act against Hamas, Barak has remained passive and has now grasped at the straw of a “ceasefire” in which Hamas is feverishly building its forces. It was largely Olmert and Livni’s bungling in the summer 2006 war that further empowered Hezbollah in Lebanon and since then they’ve done nothing to impede that process. Add this to the ongoing U.S. and Israeli impotence toward Syria, and U.S. and Western fecklessness toward Iran, and the situation is indeed acute.

WAVED OFF: OBAMA’S PATRIOTISM
