Congressional Reform Act of 2011

This is something I will fight for      and  I hope you all read it all the way through.  You will be      glad you did. 

The 26th amendment (granting      the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be      ratified!  Why?  Simple!  The people  demanded      it.  That was in 1971…before computers, before e-mail, before cell      phones, etc.

 

Of  the 27 amendments      to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of      the  land…all because of public      pressure.

I’m  asking each      addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on      their address list;  in turn ask each of those to do      likewise.

In 3 days, most people in      The  United States of America        will have the message.  This is one idea that really should be passed      around.

Congressional Reform Act of  2011   

1.   No Tenure /      No Pension.

    A       Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when      they are out of      office. 

2.   Congress      (past, present & future) participates in Social      Security.

    All funds      in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system      immediately.  All  future              funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with      the American people.  It may not be     used for any      other  purpose.

3. Congress can purchase      their own retirement plan, just as all Americans      do.

4. Congress will no longer      vote themselves a pay raise.  Congressional pay will rise by the      lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their      current health care system and participates in the same health care system      as the American people.

6. Congress must equally      abide by all laws they impose on the American      people.

7. All contracts with past      and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.    The American people did      not make this contract with Congressmen.  Congressmen made all these      contracts for themselves.   Serving in Congress is an honor, not      a career.  The  Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators,      so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to      work.

If each person contacts a      minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most      people (in the  U.S. ) to receive the message.  Maybe it is      time.

111th Congress ‘Most Productive Ever’ — In a ‘Termites Devouring a House’ Kind of Way

In the past month, story after story after story has been published mentioning how the 111th Congress is the “most productive in decades.”

What a nice spin on an absolute disaster. These people would have reported the Titanic sinking as “Ocean-going public bathing more than ever.”

To paraphrase Bill Clinton, it depends on what your definition “productive” is:

(CNSNews.com) – The federal government has accumulated more new debt–$3.22 trillion ($3,220,103,625,307.29)—during the tenure of the 111th Congress than it did during the first 100 Congresses combined, according to official debt figures published by the U.S. Treasury.

That equals $10,429.64 in new debt for each and every one of the 308,745,538 people counted in the United States by the 2010 Census.

The total national debt of $13,858,529,371,601.09 (or $13.859 trillion), as recorded by the U.S. Treasury at the close of business on Dec. 22, now equals $44,886.57 for every man, woman and child in the United States.

In fact, the 111th Congress not only has set the record as the most debt-accumulating Congress in U.S. history, but also has out-stripped its nearest competitor, the 110th, by an astounding $1.262 trillion in new debt.

Voters rewarded that kind of “productivity” with a drubbing last month. If anything about the last two years deserves to be referred to as “productive,” it was election day.

I think EVERY state should have one along most major highways

The attached photo is of a billboard recently established on I-75 just south
of Lake City.

We gathered there today to celebrate its unveiling.  The cost
of 10 months rental of the billboard and doing the artwork was $6500.  We
feel that is a reasonable cost to reach out to 1,000,000 vehicles per month
and perhaps motivate their participation in the electoral process to get our
country on a sound footing.
