Law-abiding politicians would deport illegal immigrants;the Obama
administration spends scarce tax dollars assuring their well-being. Judicial
Watch reports
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a ground-breaking new
program to stamp out childhood obesity —among the children of illegals.
(Apparently Americans aren’t the only ones who have “gotten
a little soft.”) “Like all other child obesity war programs launched by the
Obama Administration this one will target poor ethnic minorities,”writes
Judicial Watch. But this program will serve “limited English”communities:

[T]he CDC will spend $25 million on “innovative approaches” to reach
low–income and minority families in a quest to wipe out childhood obesity.
This,in turn,will prevent the onset of many diseases associated with fat
kids,including type two diabetes,asthma,and heart disease.

The “innovative approaches” include combining changes in medical care with
“supportive changes” in schools,child care centers and community venues such as
retail food stores and parks,according to the CDC’s announcement.
Additionally,health workers will provide a bridge between families and community
resources to better inform and educate hard-to-reach,limited English proficiency
and minority communities about disease prevention,health insurance opportunities
and disease management.

The money will spent in three states:California,Texas,and Massachusetts,where
members
of Obama’s
own illegal alien family live.

Michelle Obama,the president’s bitter
half,has repeatedly blamed
white racism for the pandemic of overfed minority children.

Obama’s U.S. Dept. of Agriculture has already spent $2
million installing cameras in Texas school lunch rooms to document the foods
minority children eat. The “very sophisticated”spy cams photograph
students’trays before and after lunch,then an associated software program
calculates the total number of calories each child consumed.

This administration has been particularly solicitous to those who barely
speak the language. The Labor Department,headed by Hilda
Solis,spent $10.7
million to provide safety training to “low
literacy or limited English proficiency.”

The program’s wording proves the Obama administration is explicitly catering
to first generation immigrants,most of them poorly educated and in this country
illegally. Richard Alba of the University of Albany’s Mumford Center claims
limited English is….

In Texas , a student raised a Mexican flag on a school flag pole; another student took it down.  Guess who was expelled…the kid who took it down.

Kids in high school in California were sent home this year on Cinco de Mayo because they wore T-shirts with the American flag printed on them.

Securing the Border With Smart-Aleck Semantics

President Obama made a run for the border yesterday to shore up his
credentials on the immigration issue. Speaking from Chamizal National Memorial
in El Paso, Mr. Obama defended his strategy as if it were working. “They’ll
never be satisfied,” he said, lashing out at critics. “The truth is, the
measures we’ve put in place are getting results.”

The Obama administration has cooked up a novel way to calculate what a great
job his Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has been doing in stemming
the flow of aliens flooding over the border from Mexico. In March, Ms.
Napolitano stood on a bridge connecting El Paso to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and
proclaimed border security to be “better than ever.” In testimony before the
Senate Homeland Security Committee last week, Ms. Napolitano claimed that the
meaning of “operational control” of the border is “archaic” and that she intends
to devise a “more quantitative and qualitative way to reflect what actually is
occurring at the border.” She said she wants an index that would include a
measure of how many persons have been deterred from even attempting to jump the
border.

By counting these theoretical illegals – as opposed to real ones – Ms.
Napolitano’s border-security mission becomes much easier. While hundreds of
thousands actually cross over annually, compared to, say, Mexico’s entire
population of 112 million, they represent a tiny fraction. Preventing border
crossing in a computer model or a spreadsheet allows Ms. Napolitano to proclaim
“mission accomplished” without having to actually crack down in a way that would
offend left-wing open-border advocacy groups.

Ms. Napolitano’s attempt to redefine what it means to secure the U.S. border
is a brilliant example of double-speak worthy of “Big Sis.” Real numbers are far
less forgiving. In February, the Government Accountability Office reported that
the Border Patrol has only 873 miles of the 2,000-mile southern border subject
to “operational control.” The term means simply that the Border Patrol has the
capacity to deter illegal crossers and pursue them when they’re spotted. The
remaining length is mostly open for free passage. In remote regions of Arizona,
cartels have established observation posts providing intelligence to ensure safe
border transit for drug couriers.

Mr. Obama and his economic advisers do deserve some credit for discouraging
illegals from crossing the southern border.

Calderon and the Mexico Mess

Mexico’s President Felipe Calderon visits the White House today to blame
America for Mexico’s problems.  According to the Washington
Times, Mr. Calderon says that his nation’s ruinous drug wars can be laid at
America’s doorstep.  American demand for illegal drugs is the culprit.
President Calderon also attributes Mexico’s endemic gun violence — which is
chiefly part of the drug wars — to easy access to American firearms.

Though a troubling security breach, the WikiLeaks disclosures give us a
clue to what might be the deeper problem with Mexico.

The Washington Times reports that in Wiki-leaked U.S. diplomatic cables,
American diplomats describe the Mexican government as “inefficient and plagued
with infighting as well as suspected corruption.”

American diplomats might well have added that Mexicans are saddled with an
economic model something out of Frankenstein’s laboratory: part crony
capitalism, part bureaucratic socialism.  Too many people, in and out of the
Mexican government, are benefitting from the government having its paws all over
the nation’s anemic economy.

But to placate Mr. Calderon, President Barack Obama intends to offer Mexico
more American borrowed Chinese money to fight the good fight in the War on
Drugs.  Mr. Obama will also continue to say soothing words about his desire to
grant amnesty to millions of illegal Mexicans.

Both Mr. Calderon and Mr. Obama have a vested interest in amnesty.  Mr.
Obama wants more Democrat voters and Mr. Calderon wants to continue to use the
United States as a safety valve for unemployed, poor Mexicans.  Imagine what
would happen in Mexico if the Mexican government didn’t have the United States
for a dumping ground for its poor?  Can you say “unrest” and millions pushing
for change in Mexico?  Don’t want to do anything to upset the elites’ comfy
lives south of the border.

Mexico’s mess isn’t the United States’ responsibility.

 

New UN Report Targets Arizona “Xenophobes and Racists”?

A report issued today by a United Nations agency appears to be a thinly veiled critique of Arizona’s immigration law, one that equates its supporters with “xenophobes and racists.” The Global Migration Group adopted its statement on the “Human Rights of Migrants in Irregular Situation” — that is, illegal aliens — earlier today in Geneva. It criticized unnamed nations for viewing illegal immigrants “through the lens of sovereignty, border security or law enforcement, sometimes driven by hostile domestic constituencies,” and demanded nations endow illegals  with “economic, social, and cultural rights,” including “reproductive healthcare.”

The report seems to be the fruition of Barack Obama’s decision to haul the state of Arizona before the UN Human Rights Council over its differences on domestic policy.

Mexico: Stop Sending Back Our Criminals

In a flabbergasting request, a coalition of Mexican lawmakers has asked the United States to stop deporting illegal immigrants who have been convicted of serious crimes in American courts.

The preposterous demand was made at a recent southern California conference in which the mayors of four Mexican cities that border the U.S. gathered to discuss cross-border issues. The only American mayor who attended the biannual event was San Diego’s Jerry Sanders, evidently because his city hosted it this year at a fancy downtown hotel.

Among the cross-border topics that were addressed at the conference was the deportation of Mexican citizens who have committed violent crimes in the U.S. The felons are persona non grata in their communities, say the mayors of Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez, Nogales, and Nuevo Laredo. They want U.S. officials to stem the deportation of such convicts to their cities, according to a local newspaper report that covered the conference.

Mexican prosecutors say they have recovered 55 bodies from an airshaft of a mine in southern Mexico amid conflicts between drug traffickers.

This appears to be the largest mass grave ever found in the country. The bodies were found in the state of Guerrero, which is one of the most violence-stricken states of Mexico.

“By Saturday night, the total number of bodies recovered from that airshaft was 55, so terminating the work,” Albertico Guinto Sierra, a local official, said on Monday.

The victims were found 100 meters down the airshaft, which is located near the entrance to a mine.

Mexico has endured a staggering level of drug-related violence during over the past few years.

The situation has become worse since the Mexican military crackdown on organized crime.

Over 22,700 have lost their lives in drug-related violence in the past three years.

Brewer Says She’s Ready for Potential Federal Court Challenge Over Immigration Law

That’s the attitude Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is taking toward the possibility that the Obama administration could file a legal challenge to her state’s immigration law.

“We’ll meet you in court,” she said in an interview Tuesday. “I have a pretty good record of winning in court.”

Attorney General Eric Holder has said the Department of Justice may challenge the law, which President Obama has called “misguided.” Brewer has staunchly defended the policy — which makes illegal immigration a state crime — and is expected to meet with the president Thursday, a White House official told FoxNews.com.

The White House confirmed the meeting following criticism over reports that Obama would not be able to meet with her while she is in Washington this week. Brewer is in Washington for a meeting with nine other governors appointed by Obama to deal with homeland security issues — she attended that meeting Wednesday morning.

Report from Cochise County , Arizona

Being an avid AT reader, and living on the Arizona border in Cochise County , I thought I would provide those who wish to be informed some insight into the truth about the state of the U.S.-Mexican border — at least in this part of the state.

I moved to Cochise County after retiring from the Army in 2008 to take a position working at Fort Huachuca (pronounced “wa-choo-ka,” an Apache word meaning “place of thunder” and referring to the time after the summer monsoon season). Having lived here in 1991 for eight months while attending an Army school, I soon realized that the place had changed considerably in the eighteen years of my absence.

The first thing I noticed was how many border patrol vehicles were on the roads in the city of Sierra Vista . The Border Patrol has a large station near here in the city of Naco . There are far more Border Patrol vehicles in the area than SV police cars. They come in many forms — trucks for off-road work, trailers carrying all-terrain vehicles, pickups with capacity for carrying large numbers of people once apprehended, and even a staff car for the area chaplain. The Border Patrol presence has grown substantially, so one would think the border area was nice and safe.

Not so. Within a short time after arriving in southern Arizona while on my way to work, I noticed eight illegal immigrants on the side of the road. Fortunately, they were in the custody of capable and attentive Border Patrol agents. Unfortunately, they were less than a hundred feet from my daughter’s bus stop. She gets personal service to school now, as the school district refuses to enter the gated community in which we live. There is a nice wash, a valley into which the rainwater drains during the monsoons, which provides a nice route for the illegals to follow into the city, and therefore into their locations for pickup by the vehicles that will get them farther north. 

Later, after I attended a movie on a Friday night, a car passed by me in the next lane going nearly a hundred miles an hour. It took a few seconds before I saw the police behind — way behind — with lights and sirens, trying to catch up. Surprise, surprise — the next morning’s paper discussed a Mexican drug runner being caught by County Sheriff ‘s Deputies. On several occasions, the Border Patrol’s helicopter has flown low and slow over the neighborhood, rattling windows and shining its spotlight in our backyard. When this happens, I strap on my pistol, grab a flashlight, and look and listen. Fortunately, I haven’t found anybody within a hundred yards of the house — yet.

Working on a U.S. Army fort, one would think we were fairly secure from these threats. Just not true. Reading the Fort Huachuca newspaper one morning, I noticed an interesting part of the “community” page. It asked for volunteers to assist in cleaning up “dumps” on posts where the illegals would drop their supplies used to cross the border and change clothing. They do this in order to blend in and not look like they just spent a day or two crossing the border in the dust and heat of southern Arizona . The most frightening part of this is that Fort Huachuca is the U.S. Army Intelligence Center, where the Army trains its intelligence soldiers — analysts, interrogators, radio intercept specialists, and counterintelligence agents — for operations overseas. If we can’t secure the fort we use to train our intelligence soldiers, how can we secure anything else?

Much has been discussed about the new law in Arizona making it unlawful to be in Arizona in violation of federal immigration statutes. However, much less has been discussed about the shooting of rancher Robert Krentz. Robert was killed on his ranch on March 28, 2010. His ranch, on which the family began grazing cattle in 1907 (Arizona became a state in 1912), is a large, 35,000-acre area in remote Cochise County . It is so remote that the original Cochise, an Apache leader, used the mountainous terrain near it to hide from the U.S. Cavalry in the early 1870s. But much less is being said about the eight illegal immigrants and their load of 280 pounds of marijuana seized the day before Krentz was killed. 

So Arizona should be boycotted because its people would like to keep it safe? Somebody please explain the logic of that for me. It doesn’t take a bullet from a drug runner’s gun to make those of us down here near the border understand that this is drug-related violence — and Rob’s death proves it.

It also doesn’t take much more reading to see that the drug dealers are a huge problem with far-reaching capabilities. On April 27, 2010, a large drug bust took place here in Cochise County . Among those arrested was Angelica Marie Borquez, the secretary for the Drug Enforcement Division of the Cochise County Attorney office. Allegedly, Ms. Borquez was tipping off the drug runners to counter drug operations conducted by the county. She was so bold that she used the phone in the County Attorney ‘s office to make some of her calls. 

This isn’t a blatant effort by drug cartels to obtain control here in America ?

Many have already called Arizona residents racists. They are concerned that police will profile Hispanics and disproportionally harass them. But we understand something others in Washington , D.C. and San Francisco don’t seem to remember — we border Mexico . The fact is that most illegal immigrants coming across the border here are, well, Mexicans. Those of us down here facing the danger every day really don’t care what some Hollywood actor has to say about the issue. Nor do we care about what the Colombian government or the Latino music community thinks of it. We just want to stay safe.

This is not about race; it’s about facts. Use a few of these facts the next time somebody wants to engage you in discussion about the border. Tell him you learned these things from somebody who can see Mexico from his front porch.

Parkland  Memorial Hospital in Dallas , Texas is a fairly famous institution and for a variety of reasons:
1. John F. Kennedy died there in 1963
2. Lee Harvey Oswald died there shortly after
3. Jack Ruby-who killed Oswald, died there a few years later. 
On the flip side, Parkland is also home to the second busiest maternity ward in the country with almost 16,000 new babies arriving each year.  (That’s almost 44 per day—every day)!
A recent patient survey indicated that 70 percent of the women who gave birth at Parkland in the first three months of 2006 were illegal immigrants. That’s 11,200 anchor babies born every year just in Dallas !!! 
According to the article, the hospital spent $70.7 million delivering 15,938 babies in 2004 but managed to end up with almost $8 million dollars in surplus funding. Medicaid kicked in $34.5 million, Dallas County taxpayers kicked in $31.3 million and the feds tossed in another $9.5 million.
The average patient in Parkland in maternity wards is 25 years old, married and giving birth to her second child. She is also an illegal immigrant. By law, pregnant women cannot be denied medical care based on their immigration status or ability to pay.
OK, fine. That doesn’t mean they should receive better care than everyday, middle-class American citizens. But at Parkland Hospital , they do. ” Parkland Memorial Hospital has nine prenatal clinics.  NINE!!!
The Dallas Morning News article followed a Hispanic woman who was a patient at one of the clinics and pregnant with her third child—her previous two were also born at Parkland . Her first two deliveries were free and the Mexican native was grateful because it would have cost$200 to have them in Mexico. This time, the hospital wants her to pay $10 per visit and $100 for the delivery but she was unsure if she could come up with the money. Not that it matters, the hospital won’t turn her away. (I wonder why they even bother asking at this point.)
“How long has this been going on? What are the long-term effects?
Well, another subject of the article was born at Parkland in 1986 shortly after her mother entered the US illegally – now she is having her own child there as well. (That’s right; she’s technically a US citizen.) 
These women receive free prenatal care including medication, nutrition, birthing classes and child care classes. They also get freebies such as car seats, bottles, diapers and formula.
Most of these things are available to American citizens as well, but only for low-income applicants, and even then, the red tape involved is almost insurmountable.
Because these women are illegal immigrants, they do not have to provide any sort of legitimate identification – no proof of income. An American citizen would have to provide a social security number which would reveal their annual income – an illegal immigrant need only claim to be poor and the hospital must take them at their word.
Parkland Hospital offers indigent care to Dallas County residents who earn less than $40,000 per year. (They also have to prove that they did not refuse health coverage at their current job.. Yeah, the ‘free’ care is not so easy for Americans.)
There are about 140 patients who received roughly $4 million dollars for un-reimbursed medical care. As it turns out, they did not qualify for free treatment because they resided outside of Dallas County so the hospital is going to sue them!  Illegal’s get it all free!  But U. S citizens who live outside of Dallas County get sued!  How stupid is this?
As if that isn’t annoying enough, the illegal immigrant patients are actually complaining about hospital staff not speaking Spanish. In this AP story, the author speaks with a woman who is upset that she had to translate comments from the hospital staff into Spanish for her husband. The doctor was trying to explain the situation to the family and the mother was forced to translate for her husband who only spoke Spanish.
This was apparently a great injustice to her.
In an attempt to create a Spanish-speaking staff, Parkland Hospital is now providing incentives in the form of extra pay for applicants who speak Spanish.. Additionally, medical students at the University of Texas Southwestern for which Parkland Hospital is the training facility will now have a Spanish language requirement added to their already jammed-packed curriculum. No other school in the country boasts such a ridiculous multi-semester (multicultural) requirement.
(Sorry for the length, but this needs wide circulation particularly to our “employees” in Congress.)
Remember that this is about only ONE hospital in Dallas , Texas . There are many more hospitals across our country that must also deal with this.
