House Republicans Free Border Patrol of Liberals’Red Tape

Kevin “Coach” Collins,FloydReports.com

It’s not likely you have heard of H.R. 1505,The National Security and Federal
Lands Protection Act (NSFLPA). This outline of what’s in HR 1505 will tell you
why the media is keeping a lid on this bill.

NSFLPA will free our Homeland Security Department Border Patrol agents from
short sighted and phony environmental laws that keep our borders porous and
uncontrollable.

This 180-degree-turn in America’s approach to stemming the tide of illegal
aliens sneaking into our country was introduced by Republican Congressman Rob
Bishop of Utah. NSFLPA will wave enforcement of a litany of unnecessary and
counterproductive liberal laws that have been destroying true conservation
efforts for decades.

Under Bishop’s tough enforcement bill, the Department of Homeland Security’s
work to protect our borders and coastlines within 100 miles of our borders would
no longer be impeded by extraneous laws. In many states Border Patrols would be
totally free to protect Americans from border to border. Freeing DHS officers to
pursue illegal aliens into protected wildlife and forest areas can be
accomplished by suspending enforcement of multiple laws.

H.R. 1505 would provide waivers of these laws….

Obama to Award “Green Ribbon Schools” for Teaching Kids Environmentalist Propaganda

Obama to Award “Green Ribbon Schools” for Teaching Kids
Environmentalist Propaganda

May 18th, 2011

Penny Starr, CNSNews.com

Next year on Earth Day, the Obama administration plans to announce which U.S.
schools have been selected as “Green Ribbon Schools,” a designation that will
“honor” schools for “creating healthy and sustainable learning environments” and
for “teaching environmental literacy.”

The Green Ribbon Schools program was announced
in late April, but details on how schools will be picked or what the honor
entails have not been released.

Jo Ann Webb, spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Education, told
CNSNews.com that the program is still under development.

“The criteria have not been developed yet,” Webb said. “The plan is for the
U.S. Department of Education, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the
Council for Environmental Quality to develop the criteria this spring and summer
and to issue the call for applications early this fall.

Webb said the program would recognize schools for “engaging students on
environmental issues and producing environmentally literate students; increasing
energy efficiency and using renewable energy technologies; and creating healthy
learning environments by addressing environmental issues in the schools.”

Webb said approximately 50 Green Ribbon schools could be named on Earth Day
2012. In announcing the program, Obama administration officials touted the
importance of environmentalism as part of a good education.

“Preparing our children to be good environmental citizens is some of the most
important work any of us can do,” U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said
when he announced the new program last month. “It’s work that will serve future
generations and quite literally sustain our world.”

Killing the Czars: House Republicans Fight Obama’s Executive Power Grab

Killing the Czars: House Republicans Fight Obama’s Executive Power Grab

January 7th, 2011

Ben Johnson, FloydReports.com

Congressional Republicans have wasted no time fighting back against Barack Obama’s plan to rule by executive fiat. Only days into their new majority in the 112th Congress, conservatives have introduced measures to end the most egregious offenses: abolishing the unelected system of czars, repealing Net Neutrality regulations, and preventing the EPA from imposing job-killing carbon dioxide standards on power plants. The imperative steps will prevent an imperial overreach and minimize the damage Obama can do the American people. However, if they hope to succeed, Republicans need to move beyond these necessary defense mechanisms and present a coherent and comprehensive program of limited, constitutional government.

Nothing so perfectly encapsulates this president’s push to federalize every aspect of American life better than his team of czars. These multiple dozens of ideologues — unelected and unconfirmed, because they are unelectable and unconfirmable — exercise power in every aspect of our lives from the environment, to domestic violence, to the automobile company we collectively purchased for the UAW. On Wednesday, Rep. Steve Scalise, R-LA, introduced a bill co-sponsored by 28 others to abolish all federal czars. His proposal, which is supported by 28 other Congressmen, would eliminate anyone who….

The Media Excuse Obama’s Power Grab

The Media Excuse Obama’s Power Grab

January 5th, 2011

Cliff Kincaid, Accuracy In Media

Juliet Eilperin of The Washington Post reported late last month that “the Obama administration is prepared to push its environmental agenda through regulation where it has failed on Capitol Hill.” There was no hint that this approach is illegal or unconstitutional. The account simply assumes that the Obama Administration can do what it wants, no matter what Congress or the law says.

This kind of matter-of-fact reporting about lawlessness by the federal government is typical of the decline, if not death, of adversary journalism in the nation’s capital.

The EPA’s actions seem to reflect the advice contained in the Soros-funded Center for American Progress report, “The Power of the President. Recommendations to Advance Progressive Change.”

The problem for the administration is that the new House of Representatives is going to be controlled by Republicans who have pledged fidelity to the Constitution. Rep. Fred Upton, incoming chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, declared, “We will not allow the administration to regulate what they have been unable to legislate—this Christmas surprise is nothing short of a backdoor attempt to implement their failed job-killing cap-and-trade scheme.”

The lawless tone has been set by Obama himself, who says that the admission of open homosexuals into the military must be done “swiftly.” That is not what the law says.

With border in chaos, J-Nap proclaims “environmental justice” a priority

With border in chaos, J-Nap proclaims “environmental justice” a priority

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 17, 2010 10:09 AM

Photoshop credit: Another Black Conservative
It is now day three of the hunt for one of the suspects in the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.
The Arizona Republic reports:
As the manhunt for a fifth individual in the shooting death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry stretched into its third day, local law enforcement continued to scour the rugged terrain in Santa Cruz County while federal officials provided few details on the crime or suspects in custody.
…Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada said the FBI has custody of the suspects.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano visited border areas Thursday as part of a previously scheduled visit to the region.
Napolitano’s team referred requests for comment to the FBI.
Napolitano met with Estrada Thursday afternoon.
Before the meeting, Estrada said he planned to ask Napolitano, a former Arizona governor, to continue providing federal support for local law-enforcement agencies fighting illegal immigration.
Estrada said his message to Napolitano would be clear: “Obviously she’s concerned about what happened, and obviously she’s committed to make things safe for the people who work here along the border and the residents as well.”
That wasn’t obvious to several law enforcement officials in Arizona whom J-Nap refused to meet.
Nor is it obvious given the warped priorities she laid out a recent White House environmental justice conference. Yes, environmental justice.
Carter Wood at Shopfloor has the scoop. Be sure to click on the link for access to the full, nausea-inducing transcript:
This isn’t necessarily surprising rhetoric to have come the “environmental justice” crowd, but it’s alarming to hear at the White House. And it’s just weird to hear Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Homeland Security, describe her department’s focus on environmental justice and climate adaptation. (Audio, our transcript):
So as we look at climate change, the climate change that we are in, and think about the environmental phenomenon that is happening in the course of our own lives, we translate that into increased drought. We translate that into increased likelihood of wildfires, particularly catastrophic fires in the West, we translate that into more category four and five hurricanes, and that affects communities around the gulf but also up and down the Atlantic seaboard and the Pacific as well, and other natural occurrences that are affected by changes in climate.

Changes in climate really translate into huge environmental changes that have impacts on communities and also on national security, because they raise not only the issues of making sure that we are taking into account and caring for the most at-risk populations, but that we are also looking at and planning for the potentiality of mass migrations, demographic changes, patterns, concentrations of economic assets, population growth in different areas, deteriorating infrastructure. All of this gets knit together under this umbrella of climate change and environmental adaptation.

That’s an expansive, expensive agenda, isn’t it? We thought Congress formed the Department of Homeland Security to more effectively address imminent threats to the American people, priorities like fighting terrorism, controlling our borders, and handling security at our ports and airports. Turns out the Department is instead working on EVERYTHING!
And remember that this is all happening as Democrats try to push through a land grab that would undermine the already imperiled enforcement efforts at the border and an illegal alien student bailout that would encourage more illegal immigration.
Heckuva job, J-Nap. Heckuva job.

Obama’s Envoy: We’ll Slash Carbon Footprint “Even Without Domestic Legislation”

Obama’s Envoy: We’ll Slash Carbon Footprint “Even Without Domestic Legislation”

November 30th, 2010

Dana Gatusso, National Policy Center Blog

As  UN negotiators attempt to lower the expectations bar on the  climate  change talks that kicked off yesterday in Cancun, keep your eye on  Todd  Stern, the Obama administration’s special climate change envoy and  the  U.S. government’s representative at the talks. Already he is  promising  U.N. officials that the U.S. will cut carbon emissions even  though  Congress never approved legislation and the American people are  against  any such measures.

Desperate to avoid any repeats of the failure that was the Copenhagen summit last December, UN officials assert….

The Agenda Revealed: How Obama Will Rule by Executive Order in 2011

The Agenda Revealed: How Obama Will Rule by Executive Order in 2011

November 22nd, 2010

Ben Johnson, FloydReports.com

Late last month, a reporter asked the head of the Office of Public Engagement Valerie Jarrett what she would tell her close friend Barack Obama about the American uprising against his aggressive liberalism. She replied,   “To stay the course and to know that it will get better.” Those were   not idle words of comfort; they were marching orders. The president told the New York Times he runs every decision by Jarrett, and she has admitted to Vogue magazine, “I kind of know what makes [both Obamas] who they are.” When she speaks, Obama listens.

The   day after the election, as pundits forecast how he would compromise   with the Republican House, Barack Obama revealed that he planned to   continue moving this country to the Left. As though he were invincibly   ignorant to the will of the people, Obama told Democratic volunteers on a conference call, “We’ve just got to work harder to deliver the change the American people want.”

Last   week, the Center for American Progress (CAP), which received   significant seed money from George Soros, released a 47-page paper   illustrating how he could do that: by ruling through executive order, as   this author reported he would. Some of their proposals include  blocking  legislation passed by Congress, advancing the Cloward-Piven  Strategy,  and levying a new fee on foreign oil. Now, Soros is  threatening to dry  up the cash flow if Obama does not comply. Obama  appears poised to  continue shoving the big government liberalism  Americans repudiated this  month down their collective throat through  executive action.
