It’s the Ideology, Stupid !!!

It’s the Ideology, Stupid !!!

by Warner MacKenzie
Islam-watch.orgThe West’s propensity for ignorance is nothing short of astounding when one considers that, in this first decade of the 21st century, a veritable gold mine of information, on any topic, is available at one’s fingertips via the internet. Never before have books on the subject of Islamic history and terrorism been so prolific, yet the same old dangerously erroneous opinions on the causes of Islamic violence remain as popular, uninformed and widespread as ever.

Seemingly unwilling to make the effort to research the true causes of modern Islamist violence, many in the West, including the media, are ever ready to proffer an autoethnophobic (cultural self-loathing) root-cause as to how “We Westerners must have, somehow, caused the problem and therefore deserve what we are getting”. The apologists, propagandists and appeasers continue to confidently promote the view that Islamic terrorism is born of, and nurtured by, poverty, social marginalisation, and Islamophobic bigotry. A raft of other exculpatory justifications for the current global violence is put forward with the one common theme that, in one way or another, the West is to blame and its chickens are simply coming home to roost. So when the recent revelation emerged that a number of medical professionals were involved in two failed terrorist attacks in Britain, the naively deluded went into a confused tailspin, scratching their, cognitively dissonant heads. Their beloved paradigm of the disempowered, impoverished and alienated Muslim now had more holes than a lace tablecloth. No doubt they are busily readjusting their theories to explain how these privileged, intelligent, middle-class professionals could be driven to their wits-end, and forced to lash out with such blind destructive fury at the “evil” West.

The number of medicos involved indicates that the Hippocratic Oath appears to be held in the same contempt as oaths of citizenship or, for that matter, any other. Of course, as emulators of their Prophet Muhammad’s example– an obligation incumbent on all Muslims– it’s little wonder that the dishonouring of one’s sworn oath is regarded so carelessly “By Allah, and Allah willing, if I take an oath and later find something else better than that. then I do what is better and expiate my oath” Sahih Bukhari 7:67:427.

True patriots and loyal citizens they can never be, as no sworn undertaking, irrespective of how solemn or binding, is capable of trumping a Muslim’s primary loyalty and overriding obligation to the “cause” of Islam. Nor is there anything novel in the involvement of medically trained jihadis in radical Islam.

A few prominent extremist doctors include:

  • Dr. Ayman Al-Zawahiri–Al-Qaeda mastermind and number two man, a surgeon.
  • Dr. Mohammad Rabi Al-Zawahiri–Ayman’s father and a Muslim Brotherhood enthusiast, pharmacologist and professor.
  • Dr. “Abu Hafiza”– Moroccan psychiatrist andAl-Qaeda master planner.
  • Dr. Abdel Aziz Al-Rantisi–Late HAMAS leader, pediatrician;
  • Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahar–HAMAS co-founder and leader, surgeon and lecturer at the Islamic University in Gaza;
  • Dr. Fathi Abd Al-Aziz Shiqaqi- physician -Late founder of Islamic Jihad and active in Fatah.

Another widely accepted myth is that Islamic radicalism is merely an understandable and predictable response to post WW II Western foreign policy, particularly that of the United States due to its support for Israel and involvement in Iraq, Afghanistan etc. This simplistic explanation totally disregards the inflammatory effect of the radical Islamic ideologues of the 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s, before America had any involvement with the Middle East and well before Israel even existed. The inescapable historical truth is that influential thinkers such as Hassan al Banna, Sayeed Qutb and Mualana Sayeed Abul Ala Maududi were the modern revivalists of an ideology as old as Islam itself ; an ideology founded on the belief of Islamic superiority with its dream of world domination. It was the later Saudi and Iranian windfall oil wealth that allowed those countries to promote, finance and export radical Wahabbi and Khomeinist armed jihad to countries both within and outside the Middle East, Hizbollah being a prime example. Hassan al Banna’s al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun (Muslim Brotherhood) is indisputably the progenitor of all modern radical Islamist groups.

The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and Maududi’s Jamaat-e-Islami in Pakistan sought to restore the Islamic theocratic ideal, namely the union of religion and state, whilst conveniently blaming the decline of Muslim societies on the contrary secular Western idea of the separation of church and state. Qutb and Maududi inspired a whole generation of Islamists, including Ayatollah Khomeini, who developed an Iranian version of their works in the 1970s.

Despite the gullible Westerner’s certitude that terrorist attacks are “all to do with Iraq and Afghanistan”, they are, in fact, all about Islam’s desire to rule the world as a borderless Caliphate. Whenever the willfully deluded Westerner or duplicitous Muslim seeks to explain away these terrorists attacks as reactions to U.S or British foreign policy, simply ask them what it was that precipitated the first world trade centre attack in 1993 – ten years before Iraq and eight years before the U.S. became involved in Afghanistan!

What was it in Khomeini ‘s revolution , if not expansionist ideology, that refused to be satisfied with their stated objective of ridding Iran of the Shah and Western influence, but then, going on to spread Islamic revolution to the rest of the world ?

Khomeini tells us that:

“Islam says: Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword! People cannot be made obedient except with the sword! The sword is the key to paradise, which can be opened only for holy warriors!

There are hundreds of other [Koranic] psalms and hadiths urging Muslims to value war and to fight. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war? I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.”

“Islam grew with blood . . . . The great prophet of Islam in one hand carried the Koran and in the other a sword . . . . Islam is a religion of blood for the infidels but a religion of guidance for other people.”

—Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

But of all the ideologues whose works were a source of radical inspiration to tens, if not hundreds, of millions, Maududi is the most direct and unambiguous in his description of Islam’s ultimate aspirations:

“Islam is not a normal religion like the other religions in the world and Muslim nations are not like normal nations. Muslim nations are very special because they have a command from Allah to rule the entire world and to be over every nation in the world.”

“Islam wishes to destroy all States and Governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and programme of Islam regardless of the country or the Nation which rules it. The purpose of Islam is to set up a State on the basis of its own ideology and programme, regardless of which Nation assumes the role of the standard bearer of Islam or the rule of which nation is undermined in the process of the establishment of an ideological Islamic State.”

“Islam is a revolutionary faith that comes to destroy any government made by man. Islam doesn’t look for a nation to be in a better condition than another nation. Islam doesn’t care about the land or who owns the land. The goal of Islam is to rule the entire world and submit all of mankind to the faith of Islam. Any nation or power that gets in the way of that goal, Islam will fight and destroy. In order to fulfill that goal, Islam can use every power available every way it can be used to bring worldwide revolution. This is Jihad.”

—Sayeed Abdul A’la Maududi, ‘Jihad in Islam’

The following comments, by other prominent Muslims, leave us in no doubt how widely these views are held.

“One day, millions of men will leave the Southern Hemisphere to go to the Northern Hemisphere. And they will not go there as friends. Because they will go there to conquer it. And they will conquer it with their sons. The wombs of our women will give us victory.”
—Former Algerian President Houari Boumedienne’s prophetic warning to Europe in a speech at the U.N. In 1974. Thirty three years later, his prediction is in the process of unfolding.

“Soon we will take power in this country. Those who criticize us now, will regret it. They will have to serve us. Prepare, for the hour is near.”
— Belgium-based imam in 1994. “De Morgen”, Oct. 5, 1994. Cited in Koenraad Elst, “The Rushdie Rules”, Middle East Quarterly, June 1998.

“The Quran should be America’s highest authority”. “Islam is not in America to be equal to any other religion but to be dominant.”
— Omar Ahmad, CAIR’s (Council on American-Islamic Relations) chairman of the board.

“I would like to see the Islamic flag fly, not only over number 10 Downing Street, but over the whole world,”
— Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed, (former leader of the extremist Al-Muhajiroun movement in Britain) in an interview with Reuters.

“I want to see the U.S become an Islamic nation.”
—-Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR.

“We are not fighting so that you will offer us something. We are fighting to eliminate you.”
—Hussein Massawi, the former Hezbollah leader behind the slaughter of U.S. and French forces 20 years ago.

“Jihad and the rifle alone. NO negotiations, NO conferences and NO dialogue.”
—Sheikh Abdullah Azzam— (Osama bin Laden’s late mentor.)

“Allah revealed Islam in order that humanity could be governed according to it. Unbelief is darkness and disorder. So the unbelievers, if they are not suppressed, create disorder. That is why the Muslims are responsible for the implementation of Allah’s Law on the planet, that humanity may be governed by it, as opposed to corrupt man-made laws. The Muslims must make all efforts to establish the religion of Allah on the earth”
—Muhammad ‘Abdus Salam Faraj, “Jihad: The Absent Obligation”, p43

And finally, Anjem Choudary, Omar Bakri Mohammed’s successor, claim Islam’s sovereignty in the U.K. and U.S.A.

What is it in these clear statements of intent that Western people find so hard to comprehend and come to terms with?

Warning: Holy Month of Ramadan Trains Muslims to do What?

Warning: Holy Month of Ramadan Trains Muslims

 to do What?

By Carl Goldberg

The Muslim holy month of Ramadan has begun. In addition to fasting from dawn to dusk, Muslims are obligated to read the entire Koran during this month. Non-Muslims should be aware of some of the things their Muslim neighbors will be reading in the Koran:

  • The unbelievers among the people of the book and the pagans shall burn forever in the fire of Hell. They are the vilest of all creatures. (98.6).
  • Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve. (8.55)
  • The unbelievers are your inveterate enemy. (4:101)
  • Mohammed is God’s apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another. (48:29).
  • It is unlawful for a believer to kill another believer, accidents excepted. (4:92)
  • Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends. (5:51)
  • Make war on them [non-Muslims] until idolatry shall cease and God’s religion shall reign supreme. (8:40)
  • Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God’s religion reigns supreme. (2:193)
  • The true believers fight for the cause of God, but the infidels fight for the devil. Fight then against the friends of Satan. (4:76)
  • We will put terror into the hearts of the unbelievers. (3:150)
  • I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads, strike off the very tips of their fingers. (8:12)
  • When the sacred months are over, slay the idolaters wherever you find them. (9:5)
  • Fight against such of those to whom the Scriptures were given as believe in neither God nor the Last Day, … until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued. (9:29)
  • Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. (9:73 and 66:9)
  • Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. (9:123)
  • When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield, strike off their heads. (47:4)
  • These and other passages in the Koran, which are considered Allah’s literal word, will be important to non-Muslims until the imams preach to their congregations that these passages are no longer valid. So far, it has not happened.

    Remembering the Unforgettable

    Remembering the Unforgettable
    Monday, 10 September 2007
It is said that “powerlessness frustrates and absolute powerlessness frustrates absolutely; absolute frustration is a dangerous emotion to run a world with.”

Sometimes I wonder why I am so restless, why I cannot cease thinking! It seems like the world we live in reveals to us incessantly, at certain moments or in certain circumstances, just how little we are and how vast the universe is. This world of ours is a very complex world. The world we live in is a world of many brutal voices. It is a world of heavy blows and delirious trances, but it is the only world that we know.

As Americans prepare themselves to remember and honor the victims of the Islamic terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, life reminds us all how vulnerable we really are. On that day, the world we live in appeared an obscure and dull place, filled with pockets of disasters where men are easily the victims.
The tragic and catastrophic events of September 11, 2001 have affected me tremendously. I felt a temptation to scream and run to the end of the world and say my prayers with unusual earnestness and a heavy heart. I felt like screaming for the overflowing flood of human blood. I felt like screaming for the weary eyes and innocent moans of the victims’ families. I felt apprehensive, anxious, and fearful. And now, as I take up my pen, my hand trembles and my head swims with horror and disbelief at the magnitude of the human devastation. Yet, the world will go on as usual.

During the events of September 11, 2001, Americans stood still and watched the most horrific events unfolding right in front of their eyes. They were very traumatized by the events. Many people came and told the reporters of how they saw the flesh on dead people and they were so scared. Americans watched, prayed and hoped, searching for an answer, a comfort and strength to pass those tumultuous moments. September 11, 2001 proved, unlike anything else in recent American history, that everyday people do extraordinary caring things. September 11 was the day that ordinary people became heroes. Heroes appear when circumstances call upon them. Heroes are those extraordinary people who make sacrifices and become agents of historical and social change.

When disasters occur, our minds pass through many stages of inner development. We sometimes speak of other forces that rule the world. The tragic event of September 11 left thousands dead and hundreds more wounded and put a nation into mourning. It was a heavy blow to humanity from the “religion of peace.”

There is nothing inherently wrong with religion. Religion can be a tremendous force for the good. However, when religion, this feeling-based belief, is filled with superstition, intolerance and hatred, then the beholder of that religion embodies those qualities and becomes a veritable menace to the self and to others. Feelings energize actions. Destructive feelings energize destructive actions.

Muslims living in theocratic states, in particular, tend to be victims of their religious brains. Their religious brains are indoctrinated, from the moment of birth, by an extensive ruthless in-power cadre of self-serving mullahs and imams who are intent on maintaining their stranglehold on the rank and file of the faithful—their very source of support and livelihood.

The mullahs and imams, as well as parents and others, envelop the receptive mind, feed it their dogma, and shield it from information that may undermine or falsify their version of belief.

For as long as there are bigoted, self-serving clergy and their collaborators with exclusive access to the blank slate, the problem of supplying wave after wave of Islamofascists will persist. It is the brain/mind that assesses things, makes decisions, and orders actions. To the extent that the in-place software of the religious brain is exclusionary in nature, hateful in orientation, and violent in tendency, the individual is both the perpetrator and the victim of barbaric acts.

What we need to do is to learn our lessons from the September 11 tragedy; learn more of the unethical depths to which human beings may fall and how we can prevent such tragedies from happening again. We need to educate ourselves about Islam, radical Islam and Islamofascism.

The surest way of dealing with Islamofascism is through the effective inculcation of religious software that promotes tolerance of diversity, freedom of faith and conscious goodwill to all, as well as the purging of all the vile and discriminatory dogma that permeates the out-dated primitive belief of some 1400 years. The best place to start is clearly the home, then schools, and mosques where the deeply-entrenched mullahs and imams of vested interest must be compelled by law to refrain from preaching messages of hate and violence against the unbelievers.

We, free Iranian-Americans, express our deepest sympathy to the families of the victims of the September 11 tragedy and we condemn, in the strongest terms, the new coalition of Islamofascists who are planning another attack on US soil under the disgusting and dangerous banner of Islamofascism.

‘Muslim Opinion’ Be Damned: Hatred of America is Irrational and Undeserved

‘Muslim Opinion’ Be Damned: Hatred of America is Irrational and Undeserved
By Alex Epstein, 9/3/2007 1:09:51 PM To listen to most of our foreign-policy commentators, the biggest problem facing America today, six years after 9/11, is the fact that many Muslims are mad at us. “Whatever one’s views on the [Iraq] war,” writes a New York Times columnist, “thoughtful Americans need to consider … the bitter anger that it has provoked among Muslims around the world.” In response to the Abu Ghraib scandal several years ago, Ted Kennedy lamented, “We have become the most hated nation in the world, as a result of this disastrous policy in the prisons.” Muslim anger over America’s support of Israel, we are told, is a major cause of anti-American terrorism.

We face, these commentators say, a crisis of “Muslim opinion.” We must, they say, win the “hearts and minds” of angry Muslims by heaping public affection on Islam, by shutting down Guantanamo, by being more “evenhanded” between free Israel and the terrorist Palestinian Authority — and certainly by avoiding any new military action in the Muslim world. If we fail to win over “Muslim opinion,” we are told, we will drive even more to become terrorists.

All of this evades one blatant truth: the hatred being heaped on America is irrational and undeserved. Consider the issue of treatment of POWs. Many Muslims are up in arms about the treatment of prisoners of war in Iraq and at Guantanamo — many of whom were captured on battlefields trying to kill Americans. Yet these same Muslims are silent about the summary convictions and torture — real torture, with electric drills and vats of acid — that are official policy and daily practice throughout the Middle East.

Or consider “Muslim opinion” over the U.S. handling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in which the United States is accused of not being “hard enough” on Israel — a free nation with laws that protect all citizens, Jew and Arab alike — for Israel’s supposed mistreatment of Palestinians. Yet “Muslim opinion” reveres the Palestinian Authority, a brutal dictatorship that deprives Palestinians of every basic freedom, keeps them in unspeakable poverty, and routinely tortures and executes peaceful dissenters.

So-called Muslim opinion is not the unanimous and just consensus that its seekers pretend. It is the irrational and unjust opinion of the world’s worst Muslims: Islamists and their legions of “moderate” supporters and sympathizers. These people oppose us not because of any legitimate grievances against America, but because they are steeped in a fundamentalist interpretation of their religion — one that views America’s freedom, prosperity, and pursuit of worldly pleasures as the height of depravity. They do not seek respect for the rights of the individual (Muslim or non-Muslim), they seek a world in which the rights of all are sacrificed to the dictates of Islam.

The proper response to Islamists and their supporters is to identify them as our ideological and political enemies — and dispense justice accordingly. In the case of our militant enemies, we must kill or demoralize them — especially those regimes that support terrorism and fuel the Islamist movement; as for the rest, we must politically ignore them and intellectually discredit them, while proudly arguing for the superiority of Americanism. Such a policy would make us safe, expose Islamic anti-Americanism as irrational and immoral, and embolden the better Muslims to support our ideals and emulate our ways.

President Bush, like most politicians and intellectuals, has taken the opposite approach to “Muslim opinion”: appeasement. Instead of identifying anti-American Muslims as ideological enemies to be discredited, he has appealed to their sensibilities and met their demands — e.g., sacrificing American soldiers to save Iraqi civilians and mosques. Instead of seeking to crush the Islamists by defeating the causes they fight for — such as Islamic world domination and the destruction of Israel — he has appeased those causes, declaring Islam a “great religion” and rewarding the Palestinian terrorist Jihad with a promised Palestinian state. Instead of destroying terrorist regimes that wage war against the West — including, most notably, Iran — he has sought their “cooperation” and even cast some as coalition partners.

Such measures have rewarded our enemy for waging physical and spiritual war against us. Condemn America, they have learned, and American leaders will praise your ideals and meet your demands. Attack America via terrorist proxy, terrorist states and movements have been taught, and America will neither blame you nor destroy you, but redouble its efforts to buy your love.

Every attempt to appease “Muslim opinion” preserves, promotes, and emboldens our enemies. Every concession to angry Muslim mobs gives hope to the Islamist cause. Every day we allow terrorist regimes to exist gives their minions time to execute the next Sept. 11. America needs honest leadership with the courage to identify and defeat our enemies — “Muslim opinion” be damned.

    Muslim Mafia and the Media

The media has been doing an excellent job in ignoring the
spectacular revelations at the trial against the Holyland
Foundation, once America’s largest Muslim charity organization, now taking
place. Evidence is being revealed that shows a hidden agenda and
widespread conspiracy amongst all the so-called “moderate” major
Muslim groups in America to totally destroy the country, the
culture, Western values. The information below came from
Homeland Security’s own website, followed by an editorial in
    Investor’s Business Daily.
I’d like to hear what U.S. presidential candidates have to say
about this. If any of you get a chance, ask them.

The The Holy Land Foundation Case; What you are not hearing in
    the Media
Submitted by Lan Lamphere on Fri, 2007-08-10 18:59. Podcast
    http://www.homelandsecurityus.com/node/1145

Aug 10, 2007: Yesterday ended the second full week of trial
testimony in the case against The Holy Land Foundation for Relief
& Development, once the largest Muslim charity in the United
States . After a lengthy investigation by U.S. federal
authorities that resulted in the organization’s assets being
frozen in 2001, and the filing of a 42-count criminal indictment
in 2004, prosecutors have been methodically presenting their case
against the organization and seven named defendants in a downtown
    Dallas , Texas courtroom.

Trial Watch, a special broadcast of The Homeland Security Report
hosted by Doug Hagmann, brings you important information about
the trial that is not being covered by the mainstream media.
Listen to Doug Hagmann – an investigator with over 20 years of
experience in civil and criminal cases – as he recaps the case
against the Muslim charity as presented by the prosecution,
carefully sorts through the mountain of evidence presented by the
prosecution linking the charity and the defendants to the Islamic
terrorist organization HAMAS. Doug Hagmann describes the
testimony of lead FBI agent Lara Burns in her presentation of
hundreds of documents that link HLF funding directly to HAMAS
terrorist operations in the Middle East . This segment of Trial
Watch identifies members of the Council on American Islamic
Relations (CAIR), including executive director Nihad Awad,
who is purported to have direct knowledge that the giant funding
apparatus known as the Holy Land Foundation was financing
terrorist operations in the Middle East.

Doug Hagmann also details the prosecution’s linkage between a
named defendant in this case to a spiritual advisor to at least
two of the September 11, 2001
hijackers. Also detailed in this broadcast is the 1993 meeting
held in Philadelphia between U.S. based HAMAS members and CAIR’s
executive director. The meeting was held to discuss ways to
improve funding for HAMAS, and derail the Oslo Peace Accords.

    A Muslim ‘Mafia’?

By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Tuesday, August 14, 2007
    4:30 PM PT

Homeland Security: Forget everything you’ve been told about
“moderate” Muslim groups in America. New evidence that U.S.
prosecutors have revealed at a major terror trial exposes the
    facade.

Exhibit No. 003-0085 is the most chilling. Translated from Arabic
by federal investigators in the case against the Holy Land
Foundation, an alleged Hamas front, the secret document outlines
a full-blown conspiracy by the major Muslim groups in America –
all of which are considered “mainstream” by the media.

In fact, they are part of the “Ikhwan,” or Muslim Brotherhood,
the parent organization of Hamas, al-Qaida and other major
Islamic terror groups. They have conspired to infiltrate American
society with the purpose of undermining it and turning it into an
    Islamic state.

Check out this quote from Page 7 of the 1991 document:

“The Ikwhan must understand that all their work in America is a
kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western
civilization from within and sabotaging their miserable house by
the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s
religion is made victorious over all religions.”

Sounds like the latest screed from Osama bin Laden. But it comes
from the Muslim establishment in America.

The secret plan lists several Saudi-backed Muslim groups as
    “friends” of the conspiracy.

They include the Islamic Society of North America – the umbrella
organization – and the North American Islamic Trust, which
controls most of the mosques in America and is the forerunner to
the Council on American-Islamic Relations, this country’s most
    visible Muslim-rights group.

All three have been cited as unindicted co-conspirators in the
case, with all three sharing membership in the Muslim
Brotherhood. Yet all have claimed, in the wake of 9/11, to be
    moderate, even patriotic.

Another exhibit reveals their plan to create innocuous-sounding
“front groups” to hide their radical agenda.

Many in the media and politics have fallen for their deception
and helped bring them into the mainstream.

    Now everyone knows the truth.

The Muslim establishment that publicly decries the radical fringe
    – represented by Hamas and al-Qaida – may actually be a part of
it. The only difference is that they use words and money instead
of bombs to accomplish their subversive goals.

Over the past two decades they have constructed, with Saudi
money, an elaborate infrastructure of support for the bad guys –
    right under our noses.

They even brag about putting “beehives” (Islamic centers) in
    every major city.

These exhibits – which so far have been ignored by major media
outside the Dallas area, where the trial is under way –
completely blow the mainstream Muslim NGOs’ cover as pro-American
moderates. Many, if not most, aren’t.

This is their real agenda, spelled out in black and white. It
should help investigators build a RICO case to dismantle the
    entire terror-support network in America.

Many have suspected it, but now we have proof that there is a
secret underworld operating inside America under the cover of
    fronts with legitimate-sounding names.

It even uses charities to launder money for violent hits on
enemies. It’s highly organized, with its own internal bylaws and
security to avoid monitoring from law enforcement.

    Sounds like the Mafia.

But unlike the mob, this syndicate is religious in nature and
    protected by political correctness.

More evidence like this should put an end to such nonsense.

    From the Los Angeles Times
    Misinterpreting the Mideast
Until they get past their mistaken assumptions, foreign envoys can do little
    to calm the region.
    By Moshe Ya’alon

    August 26, 2007

After a few years of benign neglect, Israel is back on the itineraries of
well-meaning foreign emissaries. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair
visited the country last month in his new role as special envoy of the
“quartet” of Middle East peacemakers. Earlier this month, U.S. Secretary of
State Condoleezza Rice arrived. Each visit was concluded with a news
conference at which promises of progress were made. But before any lasting
on-the-ground movement toward peace can be achieved in the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict, foreign emissaries, as well as some Israelis,
will have to shake off some long-disproved tenets of the conventional wisdom
    about the dispute .

There are four main misconceptions that diplomats bring with them to Israel.
Primary among them is the idea that solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
is a prerequisite for stability in the Mideast . The truth is that the
region is riven by clashes that have nothing to do with Israel. For
instance, the Jewish state plays no role in the conflict between Shiites and
Sunnis, between Persians and Arabs or between Arab nationalists and Arab
    Islamists.

The second misconception is that Israeli territorial concessions are the key
to progress . The reality is that an ascendant jihadist Islam believes that
it is leading the battle against Israel and the rest of the West. Given this
dynamic, Israeli territorial or other concessions simply fill the jihadists’
sails, reinforcing their belief that Israel and the West are weak and can be
    militarily defeated.

True, a majority of Israelis supported Israel’s unilateral withdrawals from
Lebanon in 2000 and from Gaza in 2005 in the belief that meeting Hezbollah
and Palestinian territorial demands would nullify the cause of conflict
between them. We now know the results: The Hezbollah and Palestinian
reactions — concerted terror wars, kidnapped Israeli soldiers, rockets
fired at Israeli cities — made clear that the Mideast’s central conflict is
not territorial but ideological. And ideology cannot be defeated by
    concessions.

Emissaries also still believe that “the Occupation” blocks agreement between
Israelis and Palestinians. In the West, the term usually means the
territories Israel conquered in the Six-Day War in 1967. If the problem
between Israelis and Palestinians were just the 1967 territories, and the
solution were dividing those lands up between the two sides (as proposed,
most recently, in 2000 by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak), the
conflict would have ended long ago.

Instead, the heart of the problem is that many Palestinians — Fatah and
Hamas, in particular — and even some Israeli Arabs use “Occupation” to
refer to all Israel.  They do not recognize the Jewish people’s right to an
independent state, a right affirmed again and again in the international
    arena.

Finally, the well-intentioned visiting diplomats believe that the
Palestinians want — and have the ability — to establish a state that will
live in peace alongside Israel. But they are not being clear-eyed. The late
Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, established a thugocracy that never
improved the basic living conditions of his people. Indeed, Palestinian
unemployment and poverty are worse today than they were before Arafat and
his cronies assumed power in 1994.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas did not take responsibility
for Gazans’ welfare, which in part led to Hamas’ electoral victory in 2006.
Now confined to the West Bank after Hamas kicked his Fatah organization out
of Gaza, Abbas has not moved to create a governmental structure.

A corollary of this fourth misconception is the belief that economic
development can neutralize extreme nationalism and religious fanaticism ,
thus clearing the way toward peace and security. David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s
first prime minister, had a term for such believers: “naive Zionists.” Those
who fit this description should demand that the Palestinians explain what
they did with the $7 billion in international aid they received over the
years . Seven billion reasons for economic progress — and yet, why did
Palestinian mobs destroy the Erez industrial zone, where Palestinians worked
and ran businesses for decades, on the Gaza border? Why do they attack safe
roads linking Gaza and the West Bank? Why is the Palestinian economy in
    shambles?

Shorn of these mistaken assumptions, the picture in the Middle East is
disturbing indeed. No wonder emissaries hold on to them. So what to do?

For starters, Western governments and their emissaries must refrain from
pressuring Israel for territorial or security concessions, which at best
produces only short-term gains and emboldens the Islamist terror groups.
Instead, they should try to persuade the Palestinian leaders to commit to a
long-term strategy premised on educational, political and economic reforms
that would lead to the establishment of a civil society that cherishes life,
not death; values human rights and freedom; and develops a middle class, not
a corrupt, rich elite. At the same time, these governments should set up an
international fund that would offer Palestinian refugee families aid — say
$100,000 to $200,000 a family — for their resettlement on the condition
that their acceptance of the money would signify resolution of their refugee
    status.

Under no circumstances should emissaries attempt to open a dialogue with
Hamas. For the sake of Palestinian society, Hamas and its ideology must be
defeated. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not the most significant
today; it’s the battle between jihadist Islam and the West, of which Israel
is merely one theater. To defeat jihadist Islam, the West must overcome the
regimes, organizations and ideologies that support and feed it — and Hamas
    is foremost among them.

The emissaries who travel to Israel must draw on their rich diplomatic
experiences, free themselves from misconceptions about the
Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the petty politics that flows from them —
especially the binds of political correctness — to lead us all toward
freedom, security and peace. Anything else is mere meddling.

    A Muslim ‘Mafia’?

    A Muslim ‘Mafia’?

    By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY

Homeland Security: Forget everything you’ve been told about “moderate” Muslim groups in America. New evidence that U.S. prosecutors have revealed at a major terror trial exposes the facade.

Exhibit No. 003-0085 is the most chilling. Translated from Arabic by federal investigators in the case against the Holy Land Foundation, an alleged Hamas front, the secret document outlines a full-blown conspiracy by the major Muslim groups in America – all of which are considered “mainstream” by the media.

In fact, they are part of the “Ikhwan,” or Muslim Brotherhood, the parent organization of Hamas, al-Qaida and other major Islamic terror groups. They have conspired to infiltrate American society with the purpose of undermining it and turning it into an Islamic state.

Check out this quote from Page 7 of the 1991 document:

“The Ikwhan must understand that all their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging their miserable house by the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all religions.”

Sounds like the latest screed from Osama bin Laden. But it comes from the Muslim establishment in America.

The secret plan lists several Saudi-backed Muslim groups as “friends” of the conspiracy.

They include the Islamic Society of North America – the umbrella organization – and the North American Islamic Trust, which controls most of the mosques in America and is the forerunner to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, this country’s most visible Muslim-rights group.

All three have been cited as unindicted co-conspirators in the case, with all three sharing membership in the Muslim Brotherhood. Yet all have claimed, in the wake of 9/11, to be moderate, even patriotic.

Another exhibit reveals their plan to create innocuous-sounding “front groups” to hide their radical agenda.

Many in the media and politics have fallen for their deception and helped bring them into the mainstream.

    Now everyone knows the truth.

The Muslim establishment that publicly decries the radical fringe
    – represented by Hamas and al-Qaida – may actually be a part of it. The only difference is that they use words and money instead of bombs to accomplish their subversive goals.

Over the past two decades they have constructed, with Saudi money, an elaborate infrastructure of support for the bad guys – right under our noses.

They even brag about putting “beehives” (Islamic centers) in every major city.

These exhibits – which so far have been ignored by major media outside the Dallas area, where the trial is under way – completely blow the mainstream Muslim NGOs’ cover as pro-American moderates. Many, if not most, aren’t.

This is their real agenda, spelled out in black and white. It should help investigators build a RICO case to dismantle the entire terror-support network in America.

Many have suspected it, but now we have proof that there is a secret underworld operating inside America under the cover of fronts with legitimate-sounding names.

It even uses charities to launder money for violent hits on enemies. It’s highly organized, with its own internal bylaws and security to avoid monitoring from law enforcement.

    Sounds like the Mafia.

But unlike the mob, this syndicate is religious in nature and protected by political correctness.

More evidence like this should put an end to such nonsense.
