Obama Caves to Islamic Group’s Dictates

Obama Caves to Islamic Group’s Dictates

Thursday, April 8, 2010

After over a year of prodding by terrorism apologists and radicals, President Barack Obama and his national security team are bending to their wishes.

For example, yesterday the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, released a statement that they “welcomed an announcement that the Obama administration will remove ‘loaded’ terms linking Islam to extremism” from a newly revised national security document.

The Obama White House claims the change would remove terms like “Islamic radicalism” from the National Security Strategy, a document that was created by the previous administration to outline the Bush doctrine, which CAIR and other suspicious groups opposed.

“We welcome this change in language by the Obama administration as another step toward respectful and effective outreach to Muslims at home and abroad,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.

“We hope this positive change in language will lead to policies that will deal more effectively with important issues such as peace with justice in the Middle East and withdrawal of our nation’s forces from Iraq and Afghanistan.” [NOTE: Any time you see “peace and justice” together, you know that the group is against the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state. The main thrust of all Moslem organizations in America, CAIR included, is to turn American policy against Israel. It appears to be working.]

He recommended that media professionals and commentators adopt similarly neutral and objective language and avoid “loaded” terminology. Awad noted that “CAIR has been calling for changes in the use of terminology falsely linking Islam to terrorism for a number of years.”

“CAIR is always playing the victim card,” said a decorated police officer.

“In other words, soldiers, cops and politicians are supposed to ignore common sense so as to not hurt the feelings of terrorists? Catholics did not fly planes into the World Trade Center. Protestants didn’t attempt to blow up a plane in Detroit. Jews didn’t plot terrorist attacks on the New York City subway system and its passengers,” said former intelligence officer and police detective Mike Snopes.

Not long ago, the Transportation Security Administration announced a new training program — some may call it an indoctrination program — that would be mandated for more than 45,000 security officers and supervisors at airports throughout the nation. This CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) endorsed training program was billed as “Muslim Sensitivity Training.” In 2007, the Justice Department labeled CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist finance case in U.S. history. That’s when the organization changed its name to the Council on American-Islamic Relations Action Network.

According to a report from the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism and Homeland Security: “The Council on American-Islamic Relations and its employees have combined, conspired, and agreed with third parties, including, but not limited to, the Islamic Association for Palestine , the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, the Global Relief Foundation, and foreign nationals hostile to the interests of the United States, to provide material support to known terrorist organizations, to advance the Hamas agenda, and to propagate radical Islam.”

“The Council on American-Islamic Relations, and certain of its officers, directors, and employees, have acted in support of, and in furtherance of, this conspiracy,” said the Senate report.

Dr. Daniel Pipes, a foremost expert on radical Islam and terrorism cites several criminal cases involving CAIR officials:

A senior staff member, Randall Royer a/k/a “Ismail” Royer, pled guilty and was sentenced to twenty years in prison for participating in a network of militant jihadists centered in Northern Virginia. He admitted to aiding and abetting three persons who sought training in a terrorist camp in Pakistan for the purpose of waging jihad against American troops in Afghanistan. Royer’s illegal actions occurred while he was employed by CAIR.

Their Director of Public Affairs, Bassem Kafagi was arrested by the US due to his ties with a terror-financing front group. Khafagi pled guilty to charges of visa and bank fraud, and agreed to be deported to Egypt. Khafagi’s illegal actions occurred while he was employed by CAIR.

Ghassan Elashi, a founder of CAIR Texas chapter and founder of the Holy Land Foundation was arrested by the United States and charged with, making false statements on export declarations, dealing in the property of a designated terrorist organization, conspiracy and money laundering. Ghassan Elashi committed his crimes while working at CAIR, and was found guilty.

CAIR Board Member Imam Siraj Wahaj, an un-indicted co-conspirator in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, has called for replacing the American government with an Islamic caliphate, and warned that America will crumble unless it accepts Islam.

Whenever CAIR is accused of wrongdoing, their spokesmen are quick to tell Americans that its leadership have been guests at White House and that they are regularly consulted by U.S. officials on matters involving homeland security.

WOULDN’T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN, GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

‘My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.

Since Congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq . This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia , and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world’s nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. THEN EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER It’ll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine ? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France .

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social   problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China .

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France , and Russia . Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don’t care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York.

A special note to our neighbors: Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2. Its president and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple thousand extra tanks and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put ’em? Yep, border security.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty – starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we’ll be drilling for oil in Alaska -which will take care of this country’s oil needs for decades to come. If you’re an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, ‘darn tootin.’

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America . It is time to eliminate homelessness in America . To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you and we won’t forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought : You might want to learn to speak Arabic.

God bless America .. Thank you and good night.’

If you can read this in English, thank a soldier.

Israelis To Burn Effigies Of Obama In Tradition Usually Reserved For Hitler

Jerusalem Post:

Every year, Israeli children gather around bonfires on the Jewish holiday of Lag BaOmer and burn the effigies of the enemies of the Jewish people. Perennial favorites in that category include the likes of Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein.

Now, a Jewish rightist group wants to add US President Barack Obama to that list.

Bentzi Gupshtain, a member of the Kahane Chai (Kach) party, said his organization is distributing hundreds of effigies of the US president for children to set fire to on Lag BaOmer May 2nd.

“The Israeli people’s enemy is Barack Hussein Obama,” Gupshtain told Israel Radio. “He is an anti-Semite and an Islamist. We received many requests from children all over Israel for the effigies and want to teach children to trust in God, not Obama.”

During the interview, Gupshtain drew a parallel between Obama and the late Palestinian leaders Yasser Arafat of Fatah and Ahmed Yassin of Hamas, saying they were all enemies of the Jewish State.

The Obama administration recently roused the ire of Israel’s Right by insisting that Jewish construction in the West Bank and east Jerusalem be frozen.

Obama and Biden to Celebrate Earth Day by Tying Up New York Air Traffic

On a day when many Americans will be reflecting upon how they can reduce their impact on the environment, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will board separate jets in Washington on Earth Day morning to fly 250 miles up the east coast to New York, where they will land at separate airports to attend separate events within a few miles of each other.

The parallel visits of Air Force One (a 747/VC-25 aircraft) and Air Force Two (a 757/C-32A aircraft) will delay dozens, if not hundreds of commercial flights at Kennedy and LaGuardia and other nearby airports as no-fly zones are implemented. Jets will be forced to circle and burn more fuel as they wait for the VIPs to come and go. Their security contingents consisting of dozens of cars, SUVs and helicopters will burn even more. Throw in thousands of commuters’ cars and delivery trucks sitting idle in traffic as law enforcement closes large swaths of the city and you have yourself a very Earth-unfriendly day.

Millions face tax increases under Dems budget plan

Millions face tax increases under Dems budget plan

By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer Andrew Taylor, Associated Press Writer Wed Apr 21, 7:06 pm ET

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama’s Democratic allies in the Senate promise to cut the deficit by almost two-thirds over the next five years, but their budget plan could threaten about 30 million people with tax increases averaging $3,700 in 2012 and after because of the alternative minimum tax.

The alternative is tax increases elsewhere in the revenue code averaging up to $100 billion a year after 2011 to continue alternative minimum tax relief and also curb taxes on people inheriting large estates.

The Democratic plan released Wednesday by Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad of North Dakota relies on such boosts in revenues to carve the deficit from $1.4 trillion last year down to $545 billion by 2015.

The minimum tax, or AMT, was enacted four decades ago to make sure wealthy people couldn’t avoid taxes altogethe. But it wasn’t indexed for inflation in people’s incomes, so it gets “patched” every year or so in order to prevent people from being surprised by multi-thousand-dollar tax bills at tax time.

Estates larger than $7 million would also be threatened with higher taxes after 2011 if Conrad’s plan is carried out.

Conrad says lawmakers will have to find revenues elsewhere in the budget to pay for AMT and estate tax relief after 2011, which could require tax increases averaging up to $100 billion a year elsewhere in the code if Congress is going to keep its promises under tough new budget rules.

Conrad says he hopes the dilemma will force Congress to overhaul the complicated and inefficient U.S. tax code. The Tax Policy Center, a joint project of the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, says that 33 million taxpayers would face the AMT in 2012, adding $3,700 on average to their tax liabilities.

Extending AMT and estate tax relief would cost $300-$400 billion over 2012-2015, Conrad said. Many observers say it’ll be virtually impossible for Congress to produce offsetting revenues to extend the tax relief. GOP Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire predicted that when Congress confronts the problem in two years it will blink and simply borrow the money as it has done in the past.

The looming tax hikes result from the structure of President George W. Bush’s 2001 and 2003 tax bills, whose provisions generally expire at the end of this year. Obama promises to fully extend them except for individuals earning more than $200,000 a year and couple making $250,000 a year. They include lower income tax rates, a $1,000 per-child tax credit, and tax breaks for investments and reductions in the estate tax, and their five-year cost of almost $800 billion would be covered by adding to the nation’s $12.8 trillion debt.

But in the case of the AMT and estate tax, congressional Democrats have broken with Obama and promise that after two years of deficit-financed alternative minimum tax and estate tax cuts, Congress will have to come up with the money.

“If we want those things taken care of … they’ve got to be paid for,” Conrad said.

That’s easier said than done.

Gregg said the Democratic plan is “a budget that kicks the can down the road. More spending. More deficits. More debt. Less prosperity.”

The annual congressional budget is a nonbinding blueprint for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 and sets the parameters for subsequent tax and spending bills. This year, that means a cut of almost $9.5 billion from domestic agency budgets and foreign aid and a freeze, on average, of those accounts for the following two years.

Conrad’s plan, to be approved by the Budget panel Thursday, would permit Democrats to advance legislation on priorities such as taxes, energy and job creation without fear of a Republican filibuster. That could boost clean energy programs and revive Obama’s stalled jobs agenda.

Democrats haven’t decided exactly what to include in the filibuster-proof measure, though Conrad promised it wouldn’t be used to pass deeply controversial legislation to curb global warming.

Netanyahu to Obama: Pound sand

Netanyahu to Obama: Pound sand

Benjamin Netanyahu delivered an unequivocal message to the Obama administration this morning, rejecting completely a call from Barack Obama to stop building settlements in Jerusalem. The rejection creates a standoff between the two traditional allies in the region and all but halts Obama’s efforts to force Israel back to the bargaining table (via JWF):

Aides to Israel’s prime minister said Thursday that he has officially rejected President Barack Obama’s demand to suspend all construction in contested east Jerusalem, a move that threatens to entrench a year-old deadlock in Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking.

The aides said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered his government’s position to Obama over the weekend, ahead of the scheduled arrival later Thursday of the U.S. president’s special Mideast envoy, George Mitchell. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the contact between the two leaders was private.

Washington had put Mitchell’s shuttle diplomacy on hold for more than a month as it awaited a reply from Israel. Aides to Netanyahu provided no information on whether the Israeli leader had offered any other concessions to the Palestinians in an effort to restart the long-stalled talks.

The AP sounds almost disbelieving in reporting this, adding in this odd paragraph:

But with Israel eager to ease tensions with its closest and most important ally, it appeared likely the Jewish state tempered its rejection with other confidence building gestures toward the Palestinians.

Really? “It appeared likely” isn’t even rumor-mongering. It’s complete fantasy by the writer. Nothing in the article reports on “gestures,” confidence-building or otherwise, and AP reporter Amy Teibel doesn’t provide even an anonymous source for the reporting. It’s nonsensical spin aimed at somehow keeping this from becoming an abject diplomatic failure by Barack Obama.

Netanyahu just taught Obama a lesson, which is that a nation that has been surrounded by terrorists and other enemies for decades isn’t going to be intimidated by an Ivory Tower academic, even if he sits in the Oval Office.  After Obama’s shameful treatment of Netanyahu on his visit to Washington DC, he could hardly have expected any better response.  Instead of cowing Netanyahu into submission, Obama has alienated him — and as a side effect, made Netanyahu more popular at home because of it.

That’s what makes Teibel’s reporting so disingenuous.  If Netanyahu was so eager to “ease tensions” with Obama, he would have found some sort of face-saving compromise for his ally.  Instead, Netanyahu just told Obama to pound sand.

Democrats Haunted By Wall Street Ties

Democrats Haunted By Wall Street Ties

April 21st, 2010 Posted By Pat Dollard.

Obama

Politico:

President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats are promising a climactic clash with Wall Street, but there’s a complication in their battle plan: The Democratic Party is closer to corporate America — and to Wall Street in particular — than many Democrats would care to admit.

Former White House counsel Greg Craig has just signed on as an institutional Sherpa for Goldman Sachs, the iconic financial firm facing fraud charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Former House Democratic leader Dick Gephardt lobbies for Goldman Sachs, Visa and the coal industry. Former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle — Obama’s first choice to head Health and Human Services — is an adviser for a lobbying firm that represents Charles Schwab, Comcast, Lockheed Martin, Verizon and a host of other corporate interests.

Attorney General Eric Holder once lobbied for Global Crossing — sometimes described as the Democratic Enron — and White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel made eight figures in a little more than two years as the Chicago-based managing director at Wasserstein Perella & Co. between jobs as a senior aide in President Bill Clinton’s White House and as the congressman representing Illinois’s 5th District.

And the Democrats rode to their majorities in the House and the Senate on a wave of cash Emanuel and New York Sen. Chuck Schumer helped them raise from Wall Street. Earlier this month, a hedge fund manager at the center of the Goldman Sachs fraud case held a fundraiser for Schumer in New York.

“It’s pathetic,” Sen. Bernie Sanders, a liberal Vermont independent who caucuses with the Democrats, said of news that Goldman Sachs has hired Craig. “But it’s what goes on around here.”

The Republican Party is still emphatically aligned with business, but in most cases unapologetically so. For Democrats, the dance is trickier: How do you reap the financial rewards of corporate America without offending your core political beliefs — or your party’s committed base?

Democrats say their willingness to tackle Wall Street with a tough regulatory reform bill is the best evidence that they aren’t compromised by their corporate connections. But the regulatory reform push is also evidence that they know just how hard the political winds have shifted against a pro-business wing of the party that gained influence when Democrats were out of power.

The sensitivity is so great that, when a little-known aide to House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frankjumped ship for K Street earlier this month, Frank took the unusual step of vilifying him in public.

“I wanted to make clear I share the unhappiness of people at this, and my intention [is] to prohibit any contact between him and members of the staff for as long as I have any control over the matter,” Frank said in a press release. “I am therefore instructing the staff of the Financial Services Committee to have no contact whatsoever with [the former aide] on any matters involving financial regulation.”

Sensing partisan advantage, Obama — a onetime Wall Street favorite who raised nearly $1 million from Goldman Sachs employees for his 2008 campaign — has been blasting away at Republicans, most notably Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who opposes the current Senate version of an overhaul of financial services regulation.

“Now, the Senate Republican leader, he paid a visit to Wall Street a week or two ago. He took along the chairman of their campaign committee. He met with some of the movers and shakers up there,” Obama said at a Monday night fundraiser for Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.). “I don’t know exactly what was discussed. All I can tell you is when he came back, he promptly announced he would oppose the financial regulatory reform.”

National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn said the president had “demeaned himself and his office” by issuing “political attacks” against Cornyn and McConnell for “doing what Rahm Emanuel did.”

Cornyn was referring to a report in The Washington Post noting that, on the same night Obama was blasting McConnell for visiting Wall Street, Emanuel attended a private cocktail reception with Democratic donors there.

Emanuel, in the unusual role of good cop, appears to be working to assuage the fears of investors with less strident language than that used by his boss.

“This is important for America’s leadership in the world. We lead in the financial sector. It’s one of the parts in the economy we lead. But if people don’t trust our market, we can’t maintain that leadership. That’s why this regulatory reform is not against Wall Street; it’s fundamentally in the interest of the economy,” he told television interviewer Charlie Rose. “Wall Street, though, has advanced beyond the regulatory supervision, and we need to catch up in a way that ensures that we don’t have the crisis we had in the past and we’re prepared for future ones.”

Schumer’s taking heat back home for not protecting the lifeblood of his state’s economy, but standing up for Wall Street could cost him dearly in a future bid to be the Senate majority leader.

Some Democrats acknowledge that the legislation — and the harsh anti-Wall Street rhetoric — could cost them campaign contributions from the financial services sector in what is already shaping up to be a tough election year. But that’s a price they say they are willing to pay.

“This is a time when politics has to take a back seat to what’s good for the American people,” said Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee. “If that means we can’t raise money on Wall Street, so be it.”

One congressional Democrat said the financial meltdown has forced the party to address regulation.

“It’s not as though Democrats got elected and decided, ‘We’re going to go after the financial services industry,’” he said.

Craig’s hiring shows that even as the Democratic political leaders abandon the Wall Street ship, the party still has people on board.

And though he’s getting a cool reception from elected Democrats, Craig has defenders within the party, too.

“Lawyers have a particular degree of latitude in this regard because we still believe that every client is entitled to a defense,” said Jack Quinn, chairman of Quinn Gillespie & Associates, who served as counsel to Clinton from 1995 to 1997. “Greg is a superb lawyer, and Goldman is fortunate to have him on its team.”

The White House says its rules prevent undue influence from former administration officials, even though former officials can work as advisers rather than as lobbyists to circumvent them.

“The president thinks that he does have tough rules in place, and he’s going to continue to make sure that people abide by that rule,” White House spokesman Bill Burton told reporters Tuesday.

A senior Senate aide disagreed.

“Barack Obama has done his best to demonize lobbyists. [But] we can pretty much predict that [National Economic Council Director] Larry Summers will be making millions working for some hedge fund in two years. And Rahm Emanuel made millions working for Wasserstein Perella. But it’s a distinction without a difference: All these folks are cashing in on their contacts to make tons of money. … We all become more valuable after we serve in government,” the aide said.

For liberals, many of whom remain skeptical of Democratic Party ties to the corporate world, the jury won’t be in on the regulatory overhaul until the fine print is set.

Only then will they know “whether the Congress has the ability to regulate Wall Street or Wall Street continues to regulate the Congress,” Sanders said.
