Open letter to B.O.

Dear Mr. Obama,

It is
August 30, 2008 .  My name is Mark Gregg.

I am a 50 something conservative white male.
I have followed your campaign closely, including the speeches you and others made at the democratic national convention .

I am respectfully providing you with seven simple (probably shallow) reasons why I could never vote for you.

I believe my opinion is shared by many people.

While there may not be quite enough to prevent you from becoming president of this nation, I do think there is an awakening to the fact that you are not a (the) messiah that the media and liberal Hollywood entertainers are trying to portray you.

1. I hear your mantra of change, change, change.  Yet, you picked a long term, liberal, Washington insider ( Joe Biden )  to be your running mate .

This is NOT change.

It is a move that hypocritically refutes the very thing you supposedly stand for.  Your campaign then slammed McCain for picking Sarah Palin , apparently, because she is NOT a Washington insider.  She is a maverick who cleaned-up Alaska ‘s quagmire of political scandals.

Which way is it, Barack?

Is it okay for you to pick a Washington insider under the mantra of ‘change’, but not okay for John McCain to pick a smart, aggressive, reformer?

2. You have the single most liberal voting record in the senate.

This indicates to me and others like me that you may very well be an angry black man seeking to punish our country for sins of a different generation.

I am not racist. I have some biases just like you and every other human alive.
Unlike the democratic party who claims to be for the minority (but their record heavily refutes this), I will give any person who truly needs help, help.

I married a ‘minority’ girl 35 years ago (she is Hispanic) and have seen the evils of prejudice first hand.

However, I have also seen my wife and my children and others in her family throw off the veil of self imposed prejudicial bondage and move ahead.

They love our country and do not view themselves any different than I view myself as a citizen of this country.
Your lovely wife so disappointed people like me during this campaign when she stated it was the first time she had ever been proud of this country.

She apparently never noticed the massive aid we give dozens of other countries.

She apparently never noticed the sacrifice of literally millions of veterans who helped make this country a free nation and helped liberate other nations from brutal dictators such as Adolf Hitler .

She apparently does not remember that she attended ivy league universities with scholarship money that ultimately (at least some of it) was paid for by our taxes.

This troubles me more than you know.

She is an angry black woman who appears to not like her country very much.

I don’t want her representing me to the rest of the world.

3. You claim Christianity but apparently do not realize that the Bible teaches that he who does not work, does not eat.

The Bible does not say or even suggest that he who CANNOT work, should not eat.

Yet, your liberal policies reward people who are capable of working, but choose to not do so.

This bothers me.

I know that if you are elected our taxes will spiral upwards.

You should heed the words of Winston Churchill :

‘We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.’

If I like anything about you, it is your campaign promise to balance the federal budget.  Unfortunately,
we have heard this a huge number of times from a number of different politicians and we realize that when you energize the very liberal Nancy Pelosi , Robert Byrd , Ted Kennedy , etc, etc, and the many other democrats like them, a balanced budget will never, ever happen on your watch.

4. During your question and answer session with Rick Warren of Saddleback Church your answer concerning the question of where does life begin, stunned  me:

‘Above your pay grade?’

Does this mean when something bad happens as President of this nation that you are going to look at your salary to determine if you can respond?

I am sorry, but this was the most serious gaffe I have seen you make.

Frankly, it shows me that you are pandering in the most obvious manner.

You will choose your words not from your heart, but from an agenda that I believe is still hidden from the American people .

5. If anything stands out about you it is probably your appeasement mentality.

In this era of rampant, radical Islamic extremism and with the latest stunt pulled by the re-energized Russian government,

I am not sure appeasement is healthy.

I again revert to the words of Winston Churchill:

‘An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.’

6. You and your party tacitly believe that a 13 or 14 year old girl must have the parents approval to have the school nurse provide them with a Tylenol when they have a headache at school.

Yet, this same girl can become pregnant and the school can skirt her off to a clinic and abort the child in her body without the parents knowing or being notified.

This scares the hell out of me.

You have two little girls.  Would you be upset if this happened to them and you were not informed?

Then why do you stand for this?  It makes no sense to me.

7. My seventh and final point (for now) is your supporters.

I have watched the Hollywood entertainers that support you,
systematically embrace Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and others like him.

I see the continuous smut and garbage produced by Hollywood ,
the very people who promote you the most vigorously.

It is not a positive point to me and others like me to see these over-paid, bizarre, poor examples of human existence fawn over you and push you and your liberal agenda as hard as they do.

The way I see it;

When the devil is for you, we should question whether or not we should be against you.

In closing,

I just want you to know that you scare me.

I cannot vote for you.

It is not because of your skin color.

It is because these items I’ve listed and many, many others like them.

Do not claim that my dislike for you is race based.

It is because I do not feel you have the best interests of this nation at heart.

Respectfully,

Mark A. Gregg

21 Reasons Why Sarah Palin Should NOT be Elected Vice-President of the United States

Not verified with Snopes or Truth or Fiction–but who cares?

21 Reasons Why Sarah Palin Should NOT be Elected Vice-President of the United States :

1) She is a Woman.

2) She does not believe in killing babies, born or unborn.

3) She is NOT endorsed by Susan Sarandon, Jane Fonda, Rosie O’Donnell, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Geraldine Ferrara, Barbara Walters, Helen Thomas, Ellen DeGeneris, Ted Kennedy, Keith Olberman, Chris Matthews, Barbra Streisand, David Letterman, or others who fervently believe in a Woman’s Right to Choose (to kill babies).

4) She is married to a Foreigner–a species called ‘Native American’–meaning her five children are half-breeds.

5) She has on more than one occasion expressed PRIDE in the United States of America .

6) Unlike decent, self-respecting Democrats everywhere, she has a 17-year-old daughter who became pregnant out of wedlock.

7) She is a member of the American Riflemen’s Association / actually owns firearms / and knows how to use them.

8) She has killed a moose, among other animals–and spreads the propaganda that it is hunters, through their license fees, that keep American wildlife from becoming extinct.

9) She often does her own grocery and other household shopping.

10) She drives a car, rides a Harley, and flies a plane.

11) She chose to give birth to a defective child, rather than allow a skilled Abortion Doctor to kill it for her.

12) She refuses to apologize for seeking the termination of an Alaskan State Trooper just because he applied  a gentle taser to his 12-year-old stepson (who, of course, happened to be Gov. Palin’s nephew).

13) She is inexperienced. And she refuses to admit that her duties as the chief executive in the State of Alaska are nowhere near equal to those of a public servant who was once a Community Organizer, or that of a United States Senator who has carried the awesome burden of overseeing a staff of political appointees.

14) She has a son who is in the U.S. . Military, deployed to the Persian Gulf –probably making her prejudiced against all the peaceful Muslims in that part of the world.

15) She is on Oprah Winfrey’s ‘Do Not Invite’ list.

16) She professes to be a Christian, but has no ‘Spiritual Adviser’– even though Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who served Sen. Obama in that capacity for 20 years, is now available.

17) She isn’t really a ‘beauty queen,’ as advertised. She was only the runner-up in the Miss Alaska Contest; and Alaska is not a very populous state, anyway.

18) The Obama-Biden ticket is favored over McCain-Palin, 80% to 20%, by our friendly allies in France .

19) Her children are not properly trained in hygiene. (Did you see her 7-year-old daughter shamelessly lick the entire palm of her hand at the Convention, then use it to slick down the hair of her little brother?)

20) She is of mixed English, German, and Irish ancestry–and you KNOW you can’t trust the Limey’s, Krauts, or Micks.

21) Back to No. 1: This is the one that really galls modern, liberal ‘feminists.’ Gov. Palin is a Woman, a female-type wife and mother, who shaves her legs, wears makeup, dresses smartly, often cooks meals for her family, doesn’t give a hoot about the National Organization for Women or the all-powerful Teachers Unions–and obviously will never, ever fit in as a member of the Washington Elite.

FCC Probe Signals Democratic Attack Machine

FCC Probe Signals Democratic Attack Machine

A Federal Communications Commission investigation of on-air military analysts is providing a glimpse of what Democrats and an Obama administration will do to critics once they capture Washington.

The FCC has sent letters to some of the nation’s most prominent military analysts — some of them pro-President Bush and pro-war — suggesting they may have broken the law when they appeared on television stations to comment on and explain the war on terrorism.

The FCC investigation raises the question of whether a Democrat-controlled Congress and White House next year will investigate — and perhaps criminalize — all sorts of actions taken by the Bush administration. Obama is leading in all presidential polls, while Democrats are set to greatly increase their hold on the House and Senate.

The FCC letters came at the behest of two House Democrats, who say the analysts parroted on air the private briefings they received at the Pentagon. This may have broken the law, the lawmakers said.

The probe is sending chills through the ranks of military commentators, some of them decorated war heroes who share their expertise with millions of lay viewers. They see it as one in a series of moves the Left is making to intimidate and shut up its critics.

“We are seeing the dawn of a new era of the current Democratic leadership trying to muzzle free speech and the First Amendment,” retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney, a Fox News analyst, told HUMAN EVENTS. “It may be the most invasive intrusion that we have seen in our history. There will be more of these tactics to follow.”

Said retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely, one of Fox’s first defense analysts, “It’s an affront to freedom of speech. As retired officers, we’re private citizens and can say anything we want under the First Amendment. The whole thing was to explain to the American people what was going on in war and analyzing it.”

Democrats have more in store to try to muzzle conservatives. They talk of reactivating the so-called Fairness Doctrine in which federal government bureaucrats monitor radio and TV programs and rule on their fairness. Conservatives say the real goal is to kill right-leaning talk radio.

Talk radio is the one medium conservatives can turn to for their point of view amid a sea of liberal dogma from the New York Times, Washington Post, Public Broadcasting, the TV networks and Hollywood. If the government forces Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity to present liberal points of view, ratings will slip and the shows might be taken off the air.

“They’re going to implement the Fairness Doctrine to basically do away with Right-wing radio,” Vallely said. “In their minds, balance means Left wing. It’s Socialists trying to infringe on our First Amendment rights.”

Begun in 1949 as an FCC policy and then a regulation, the agency abolished the doctrine during the Ronald Reagan administration as an infringement on free speech. Democrats passed a bill to reinstate the policy as law, but Reagan vetoed it. There would be no Reagan to veto the next bill Democrats are likely to enact should Obama win the election.

In the analysts case, the FCC is looking at the practice of the Pentagon providing exclusive briefings on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to retired military officers, who would then use the information on the air.

In the Oct. 2 letters to 19 analysts and various TV networks, the FCC cited a New York Times article which accused the analysts of receiving the Pentagon information in exchange for positive commentary on the air. The letters, signed by Hillary S. DeNigro, chief of the agency’s investigations and hearings division, said such an arrangement might violate the Communications Act of 1934.

The FCC sent the letters after receiving a complaint from Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro, (D-Conn.) and Rep. John Dingell, (D-Mich.). Dingell has a history of using committee staff to browbeat and investigate Republican administrations.

“In their complaint, Representatives DeLauro and Dingell express concern that the analysts and [TV stations] may have failed to disclose this exchange of consideration to the stations, as required by section 507 of the Communications Act of 1934,” said the FCC letter. “They also suggest that the stations may have aired your commentary without making appropriate sponsorship identification announcements at the time such material was aired, as required” by the act.

Some analysts also work for defense contractors who produce weapons systems used in the war. There were suggestions in the Times article that analysts pitched those systems during TV appearances.

McInerney, a hawk on the Iraq war, said the information the Pentagon supplied him and other commentators was the same as provided to the news media.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates has ended the private analysts briefings. Besides the FCC probe, the Pentagon inspector general is reviewing the program, which was started by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld after the September 1, 2001 attacks.

The DeLauro-Dingell letter to the FCC says, in part, “Our chief concern is that as a result of the analysts’ participation in this DoD program, which included the DoD’s paying for their commercial airfare on DoD-sponsored trips to Iraq, the analysts and the networks that hired them could have run afoul of certain laws or regulations.”

The FCC is giving the 19 analysts 30 days to respond to the charges. [HUMAN EVENTS Editor Jed Babbin was a member of the group of military analysts who met frequently with senior Pentagon officials and participated in the program. He did not receive a letter from the FCC.]

US election: If Iraqis could vote it would be for McCain

US election: If Iraqis could vote it would be for McCain
Oct 30 01:02 PM US/Eastern

For five years Ali and Mohammed have lived alongside US soldiers in their Baghdad neighbourhood near Rasheed Street, a prominent commercial artery running through the heart of the Iraqi capital.During that time American culture and politics have become familiar to them, and they say that if they could, they would vote for Republican candidate John McCain in next week’s US presidential election.

“McCain would be best for Iraq because he would ensure stability,” said Ali, 66, an expert on the Sumerian era.

The personal qualities and political platforms of McCain and his Democrat rival Barack Obama are of little import to Ali, however. His focus is on Iraq and its neighbours such as Iran.

“The Iranians believe that if Obama is elected he will not take action against them despite their nuclear ambitions. That worries me,” said Ali, sitting on an old bench in Al-Zahawi coffee shop.

“If the Iranians get the bomb they will become the Tarzan of the region,” said the former teacher and lecturer at the University of Baghdad, referring to the vine-swinging strongman of the jungle in old Hollywood movies.

Mohammed, also a professor at the university, said he too preferred McCain “because Obama supports a rapid withdrawal of US troops.”

“Our army is still too weak and Turkey and Iran are threats. Iran’s President (Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad has warned Iran would fill the void left when US troops depart,” he said.

Rasheed Street with its 1920s-style buildings is still closed to vehicles, and groups of anti-Al-Qaeda fighters guard the stretch that runs north to south.

The street was the scene of major attacks by insurgents after the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime in 2003 to US-led invading forces. But even before that many business establishments had begun to move away from the thoroughfare.

Today, a few hundred metres (yards) from Al-Zahawi coffee shop, is the famous Al-Mutnabi books market, the only place where Baghdadis can find English books and magazines.

Booksellers display a range of computer publications, periodicals, works of fiction and school textbooks on wooden shelves.

Barack Obama’s image peers out between two editions of “Vanity Fair” magazine kept next to the memoirs of former US president Bill Clinton.

But “The Audacity of Hope,” one of Obama’s books, has yet to find a buyer.

“I have no customer for this book. Iraqis are interested in the campaign, but they prefer to read texts translated into Arabic,” said bookseller Shallan Zaidan.

Such Arabic versions, translated and published by Lebanese companies, include “My Year in Iraq” by Paul Bremer, the former US administrator of Iraq, and “Bush at War” by renowned investigative journalist Bob Woodward.

But there are no translations of books on the two candidates bidding to enter the White House.

Iraqis prefer instead to rely on the latest issues of weekly news publications such as Time and Newsweek, said government official Whamith Shadhan, who was browsing through second-hand books and magazines.

“I trust the Republicans more. They’re more capable of establishing democracy in the world, especially in Arab countries,” said the 33-year-old. “Obama is far too left.”

Since the invasion more than five years ago, the Mutanabi market has been twice hit by bombs. The area is predominantly Sunni, and judging by some graffiti on the walls Al-Qaeda is never far away.

“The insurgents aren’t bothered by political books sold on the street. They focus on religious ones,” said Yasser Ali, an Obama supporter and seller of books for 22 years.

Obama “interrupted his campaign to visit his sick grandmother. That speaks volumes about the man,” he said.

Back on Rasheed Street itself, Abu Ahmed waited at a men’s hairdresser as his friend got a shave.

“We accept black people more readily in the Middle East. We feel closer to them. We have common sufferings,” said the long-time sports coach.

“It would be nice if the Americans elected a black person. And Obama seems less inclined to engage in another war.”

Survey: shows McCain beating Obama in Israel

International Herald Tribune
Survey: shows McCain beating Obama in Israel
Thursday, October 30, 2008

JERUSALEM: An Israeli pollster says that if the country were on the U.S. election map, it would be bright red.

A survey of Americans in the Holy Land released Thursday found that absentee voters supported Republican John McCain over Barack Obama by a three-to-one margin.

The survey interviewed 817 Americans who have cast absentee ballots for next week’s presidential election. It was conducted by Vote from Israel, a nonpartisan group that has encouraged Americans to vote.

An estimated 40,000 Americans living in Israel are expected to vote.

Pollster Mitchell Barak said there is no formal list of American citizens living in Israel, so it’s extremely difficult to find a random sample of voters. Nonetheless, he said his survey was a good indicator on how people are voting this year. He said roughly a quarter of American voters in Israel cast their ballots through the Vote from Israel group.

Barak said most Americans in Israel are observant Jews who tend to have conservative social views and hawkish attitudes toward the Mideast peace process. Such voters are drawn to McCain, he said.

In contrast, most Jews in the United States are not religious and tend to support Democrats

Qaeda wants Republicans, Bush “humiliated”: Web video A threat Who do want at the helm?????

DUBAI (Reuters) – An al Qaeda leader has called for President George W. Bush and the Republicans to be “humiliated,” without endorsing any party in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, according to a video posted on the Internet.

“O God, humiliate Bush and his party, O Lord of the Worlds, degrade and defy him,” Abu Yahya al-Libi said at the end of sermon marking the Muslim feast of Eid al-Fitr, in a video posted on the Internet.

Libi, one of the top al Qaeda commanders believed to be living in Afghanistan or Pakistan, called for God’s wrath to be brought against Bush equating him with past tyrants in history.

The remarks were the first comments from a leading al Qaeda figure referring, albeit indirectly, to the U.S. elections. Muslim clerics often end sermons by calling on God to guide and support Muslims and help defeat their enemies.

In 2004 al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden issued his first video in more than a year just days before the elections to deride President Bush and warn of possible new September 11-style attacks.

Bin Laden made little mention of Bush’s Democratic challenger John Kerry, telling Americans: “Your security is not in the hands of Kerry or Bush or al Qaeda. Your security is in your own hands and each state which does not harm our security will remain safe.”
