Brother can you spare a dime?

Brother can you spare a dime?

The Telegraph reports that the Italian edition of Vanity Fair has tracked down the youngest of Obama’s half siblings, the 26 year old George Hussein Onyango Obama, living in a hut in Huruma, a slum on the outskirts of Nairobi.

No-one knows who I am,” he told the magazine, before claiming: “I live here on less than a dollar a month.
Huruma is a tough place, last January during the elections there was rioting and six people were hacked to death. The police don’t even arrest you they just shoot you.
I have seen two of my friends killed. I have scars from defending myself with my fists. I am good with my fists.

His famous older brother seems rather tight, at least when it comes to spending his own money to help relatives, despite earning a million bucks last year.  It was earlier reported that the Senator never made good on his promises to help other family members made during his widely publicized 2006 trip to Kenya.

Obama’s Islamist problem has nothing to do with his upbringing

Obama’s Islamist problem has nothing to do with his upbringing By Frank J. Gaffney, Jr.

Democratic presidential candidate Barak Hussein Obama’s appearance before a large evangelical congregation in Orange County over the weekend underscored an evident imperative of his campaign:   Emphasize his Christian faith & put to rest insistent rumors that he secretly adheres to the Islamic creed of his father & his youth.

. . . .he is giving a prominent role at next week’s Democratic convention to a leader of an organization identified by the Department of Justice as a Muslim Brotherhood front organization & an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism financing conspiracy.

Dr. Ingrid Mattson is the president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), an organization created by the radical, Saudi-financed Muslim Students Association. She will represent the Muslim community at the first-ever interfaith prayer service at a Democratic nominating convention.

Now, we know from the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial that ISNA is one of many Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated groups operating in America. We also know from a Brotherhood document entered into evidence in that case (which is currently being retried after the first prosecution resulted in a mistrial) that, “The work [of Brotherhood members] in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating & destroying the Western civilization from withinsabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands & the hands of believers so that it is eliminated & God’s [Allah] religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

Certainly, such would seem to be the message of Sen. Obama’s cashiering of Mazen Asbahi, his campaign’s erstwhile Muslim coordinator. The problem was not simply that Asbahi had served on a board with Jamal Said, who the government chose not to indict but nonetheless implicated in the HLF racketeering conspiracy in support of the terrorist group, Hamas.

It was that the board on which Messrs. Asbahi & Said served was for a company owned by yet another Saudi-funded, Brotherhood front & un-indicted coconspirator: the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT). The company, Allied Asset Advisors, is, as the Wall Street Journal put it: “a subsidiary of the North American Islamic Trust…which is supported financially by the government of Saudi Arabia, holds title to many mosques in the U.S. & promotes a conservative brand of Islam compatible with the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood & also akin to the fundamentalist style predominant in Saudi Arabia.” NAIT is, in other words, a powerful instrument in the Islamists’ campaign to dominate & radicalize the Muslim community in America. ISNA’s Dr. Mattson is an ex officio member of the NAIT board of directors.

Another problem for Sen. Obama would have been that Allied Asset Advisors is one of a growing number of companies that engages in Shariah-Compliant Finance (SCF). This practice ostensibly eschews investments involving interest, pork, gambling & other activities considered impure by authoritative Shariah advisors. Far from being just one of many religious-based “socially responsible” investing options, however, SCF is a vehicle for legitimating the Islamists’ repressive, totalitarian Shariah code & establishing its seditious tenet that Muslims here will not be governed by the U.S. Constitution & laws.

Whatever the reasons for the Democratic presidential candidate’s sensitivities about the Islamic faith, he has an obligation to make clear his attitude towards the Muslim Brotherhood, its mission in America & his willingness to be associated with its front organizations. It is still the case that most Muslims in this country do not want any part of Shariah law. It behooves Sen. Barack Hussein Obama to make known now whether he is willing to embrace those who do & his true attitude towards their ambition to impose the Islamists’ barbaric code here through such subterfuges as Shariah-Compliant Finance.

What Islam Wants: Islam’s Diabolical Plan According to Pakistan’s Jamat-e-Islami Party

Hussein’s Cover-Up Of Pakistan Trip

While at Occidental college he became close friends with two Pakistanis, Mohammed Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid. In 1981 he traveled with Mohammad Hasan Chandoo to Pakistan and stayed there for about three weeks. It is rather unusual for a less-than-wealthy college kid to choose far-away Pakistan as a summer break destination, but not necessarily suspicious. For some reason however, Obama has never publicly cited these relationships or his time in Pakistan. Why not?

Obama campaign to hand out ‘street money’

The a new kind of politician is playing one of the oldest games in politics: handing out street money. Catherine Lucey of the Philadelphia Daily News reports:

According to U.S. Rep. Bob Brady, the local Democratic Party chairman, Sen. Barack Obama’s general-election presidential campaign in Philadelphia will be run different from his primary operation, which relied more on volunteers than on Democratic ward leaders and did not provide street money on Election Day.
“We’re not going to pay for votes or pay for turnout,” Obama said before the Pennsylvania primary.
But Brady said that the campaign has promised street money to pump up turnout in November. And now that Obama is the official nominee, his campaign will team up with the city’s Democratic ward leaders, who traditionally help get out votes.

Lucey notes:

Paying money to ward leaders and other supporters represents exactly the kind of transactional politics Obama has run against. His primary campaigns were fueled on Internet-based fundraising and on grassroots organizing rather than on traditional political relationships.

More reason to laugh at those who believe in the messiah’s platitudes.

Obama’s missing spontaneity

Obama’s missing spontaneity

J.R. Dunn

One thing made clear by the Saddleback broadcast was Barack Obama’s utter lack of spontaneity. This inability to put himself across without a script has been characterized as “thoughtfulness” and “nuance” by the legacy media, which does little to convert it into a virtue.

It’s a strange failing. Because it’s the quality of spontaneity, the ability to think and express oneself on one’s feet, to play an outstanding game without a net (or even an acceptable court, for that matter), that’s valued above all other abilities in black culture.

We have the black preachers who can speak for hours on scriptural topics, without repeating themselves and maintaining a high emotional tone throughout. We have the jazz improvisors who can work out all the possibilities of a musical theme without the least sign of effort.

(Improvisation used to be common in European music during the Baroque era – Bach was one of the great improvisors of his day – but that vanished as serious music became more codified and intellectualized.)

It’s even present in rap, contemptible though it may be otherwise.

The original source for rap, “the dozens”, featured rhymed challenges and insults that could go on for hours.
Clearly, spontaneity is a cornerstone of black American culture. And yet Obama simply doesn’t have it. That mean nothing in and itself, but it’s a peculiarity in a man whom makes such a point of identifying himself with black America. Stranger still that the old white dude should be so much better at it.

McCain Surging on eve of Democratic Convention

McCain Surging on eve of Democratic Convention

Rick Moran
There’s no other way to put it; John McCain’s support has increased over the last fortnight while Barack Obama’s has decreased. That’s the conclusion of several recent polls as well as the judgment of political observers on the ground in some key battleground states.

Recent national polls show McCain even with Obama. Key states like Ohio and Florida show McCain lengthening narrow leads. More significantly, the polls show McCain gaining on Obama in key demographic groups that the Democrat needs to win. And the electoral college count favors McCain for the first time.

There are several factors involved in McCain’s rise, not the least of which is the candidate’s own dogged determination. After a very rough spring which saw his campaign disorganized and ineffective, McCain retooled his operation back in June and it is now percolating along quite nicely. The campaign boasts a media operation that rivals Obama’s if not in size then certainly in effectiveness. And McCain is smartly relying on the party for a much of his state ground game which saves him money.
In fact, the national Republican party, flush with cash, seems to be coming out of its winter doldrums and is starting to get the rank and file to actually believe that McCain can win this thing.

But it is the candidate himself who deserves most of the praise for hanging close in a race many believed was a lost cause. We forget at our peril that John McCain has proved before that he has absolutely no quit in him. You don’t survive the horrors of 5 years in captivity to a brutal regime and not have something special inside that drives you to overcome the odds and achieve success.

More prosaically, there are probably two big factors that worked against Obama and allowed McCain to claw his way in to the race. The first was Obama’s European trip – a disaster in retrospect that served to convince people that Obama was arrogant and cared more about looking good overseas than what was going on at home.

The second factor has almost certainly been the Russian attack on Georgia where McCain’s immediate gut instincts proved to be far superior to Obama’s spineless moralizing. By a 2-1 margin, the American people believe McCain would be better at handling the Russians.

Eventually though, the Russian-Georgian war will fade into the background and the economy will emerge once again as the center of the campaign. In this, Obama has a decided advantage as the voters see the Democrats as being much more capable of dealing with the current downturn. But as McCain has proved, it doesn’t matter what disadvantages he might have, if the winner of the race is to be determined by who demonstrates more fortitude and stick-to-it-iveness, John McCain will be there all the way to the finish line.
