The Tragedy of Islamic Indoctrination In British Schools

The Tragedy of Islamic Indoctrination In British Schools

By Adrian Morgan

America is fortunate to have the separation of “church and state” enshrined within the “Establishment Clause” of the First Amendment. No one religion can be promoted, or denigrated, within public schools. Despite this, Islamist indoctrination has crept onto the curriculum of many American schools.

Britain has no written constitution to guide its policies. Worse, Britain has an unelected monarch as its “constitutional” head of state. This monarch is also titular head of the Church of England or “defender of the faith” – a title stemming from the time of Henry VIII. Queen Elizabeth II has never interfered in politics or policy. Since her heir, Prince Charles, declared in 1994 that he was going to support alternative religions as a “defender of faith” – he undermined his role as future monarch and weakened the constitutional authority of the Church of England. His open support for Islam has further undermined his traditional role as “defender of the faith” in waiting.

Since 1992, all state (publicly funded) schools in Britain have had to adhere to the educational strategies laid out in a National Curriculum. This set of standards has been modified over the years. The National Curriculum includes compulsory lessons on religious education. Children in “Key Stages 1 and 2” (up to 11 years of age) are taught in ways that insult teachers’ integrity. When a Koran is presented to 10-year old children, the teacher is ordered to wash his or her hands before touching the book, “to show the children the respect with which Muslims treat the holy book. ” Note the words – “the holy book”, as opposed to “their holy book”. The children are urged to wash and dry their hands too, even though they are not expected to touch the book.

The demons of political correctness have so deeply infiltrated the National Curriculum documentation that each time Mohammed’s name appears, the Arabic symbol for his name is displayed afterwards. Unit 5B Section 2 is intended to indoctrinate children thus: “Children should learn: why Muslims have instructions for worship, how Muslims show concern for others, how Muslims care for people in the community, that abstinence from food plays a part in religious observance.” In Unit 5A, Section 2, teachers are told that their pupils must learn ” to understand that the Qur’an is fundamental to Muslims because it is the ‘word of God’.” Note the characterization: the Koran “is” the word of God, not “it is believed by Muslims to be” the word of God.

Unit 5A, Section 1, instructs teachers to: “Ask the children to copy the Shahadah and write a short explanation of the beliefs it expresses.” The Shahadah is the statement of belief that signals conversion to Islam. To make young children write out this declaration is a blasphemy against any other faith the child may belong to, including atheism.

This government-sanctioned political correctness led my sister, a teacher for 30 years, to tell her school that she would no longer teach the National Curriculum’s version of religious education, and would teach only her specialist subject, history.

The National Curriculum deals with Christianity and Islam, with smaller segments on Hinduism and Judaism. Sikhism, Buddhism and other faiths are entirely excluded from Key Stages 1 & 2.

Independent schools do not have to comply with the terms of the National Curriculum, and usually manage to provide a good standard of education without it. At age 16 and 18, pupils from these schools take the same national tests as do students from state schools. Some of these independent schools provide comprehensive religious education in one religion above others – so-called “faith schools”. Of these schools, 114 are Muslim. 18 of these were established since 2002. The first Muslim school in Britain was the London School of Islamics, founded in 1981.

After Tony Blair came to power in 1997 he promoted the idea of public money being spent on increasing the number of “faith schools”. In September 2001 he published a government “white paper” outlining these plans. In October 2006 within the state (publicly funded) system there were 4,646 Church of England schools, most of which cater to children aged 8 or under. There were 2,041 Catholic state schools, 37 Jewish ones, 8 Muslim “faith” schools, and 2 that are Sikh. Three of the state-funded Muslim schools had been established since 2005.

In November 2001, a poll of 5,979 people found that 80% of respondents opposed any increase of “single-faith” schools. Only 11% of males and 13% of women polled supported an increase of such institutions.

In August 2005 another poll was carried out, and here 64% of respondents said that “the government should not be funding faith schools of any kind”. In September 2006 a local poll found that 44% of Londoners wanted all faith schools to be banned, and 43% thought the basics of Islam should not be part of the National Curriculum.

In April 2006 the Association of Teachers and Lecturers demanded that no further public funds should be spent on faith schools.

Blair’s hypocrisy in encouraging Muslim schools to gain state funding is highlighted by his statement from March 2005 that religion should be kept out of politics: “Politics and religion – it is not that they do not have a lot in common, but if it ends up being used in the political process, I think that is a bit unhealthy.” If he believes that, then he should not be making political demands that tax-payers should fund single-faith schools.

The 114 independent Muslim schools in Britain, which Blair has tried to make available for public funding, have a poor track record. The only Muslim school in Scotland is the Imam Muhammad Zakariya girls’ boarding school, established in 2002. An inspection of the school found at one stage that none of its teaching staff had qualifications, and the girls were forced to remain on the grounds for two-week stretches.

This month, it was reported that more than half of private Muslim schools have not been inspected for five years, with some not being visited for an entire decade. Seventeen of these schools have never been registered with Ofsted, the official school inspection body.

Ofsted is not immune from extremism. It recently promoted Israr Khan to a post as one of its inspectors. In 1996 Khan had interrupted a school choir singing carols at Washwood Heath School, Birmingham, berating Muslim children for taking part. His aggression caused some children to go home in tears.

The material taught at some independent schools is divisive and hostile to non-Muslims. In August 2006 one government minister, Ruth Kelly, said that Islamic schools which promoted extremism should be closed. As is typical of Blair’s ministers, nothing has been done on this front.

Even when extremist schools are found, they are allowed to continue operations. The Jameah Islamiyah school in East Sussex, founded in September 2003, has been linked with terrorism. It had only 9 pupils, and Ofsted inspections in 2005 found it seriously below expected educational standards. In November 2006, Ofsted recommended its being declassified as a school, but at the end of January, this recommendation had not been acted upon.

In 2004 the Saudi-funded King Fahd Academy in west London was criticized for instilling hostility to outsiders and providing girls with inferior education. Most classes are in Arabic. As recently as December 2006 the school was promoting hatred according to a teacher who said: “The schoolbooks in use describe Jews as ‘monkeys’ (or apes) and Christians as ‘pigs’.”

Another Muslim school in west London is the Hawza Ilmiyya, where non-Muslims are described in its literature as “filth”. The school is closely tied to the Islamofascist regime of Iran.

There are 700 unofficial Muslim schools or “madrassas”, usually classrooms attached to mosques, in Britain. These have about 100,000 children under their care. The Muslim Parliament claimed last year that half of these use illegal corporal punishment, and annually at least a dozen pupils are sexually abused.

Where Islamic schools become publicly funded, their intolerance of British values does not disappear. The Madina school in Leicester will become publicly funded this year. Girls will be segregated from boys, and though 10% of its pupils will not be Muslim, all girls will be forced to wear Muslim headscarves.

The standard of teaching in some Muslim schools is so poor that in Birmingham half the pupils at a Jewish school, King David, are Muslims. Parents are attracted by the high educational standards on offer. In some areas, demographic change has led to pupils in Christian faith schools being predominantly Muslim. One such school is the Catholic-run St Albert’s Primary in Pollockshields, Glasgow, where 90% of its intake is Muslim. Osama Saeed is a Muslim who has campaigned for this school to become officially converted to a Muslim school. Saeed is a member of the Muslim Association of Britain, a group linked to the terror-supporting Muslim Brotherhood.

The appeasing of Muslims continues without the interference of government. In Bordesley in Birmingham, a school has been named St Andrews Junior and Infants for 150 years. The city council has suggested changing the name to one that sounds less “Christian”, even though it stands next to the well-known St Andrews soccer ground.

Park Road Junior Infant and Nursery School in Batley, West Yorkshire has imposed a ban on stories about pigs for its youngest pupils, imposed by the principal, Barbara Harris. She said: “Recently I have been aware of an occasion where young Muslim children in class were read stories about pigs. We try to be sensitive to the fact that for Muslims talk of pigs is offensive.”

When one teacher at Bayliss Court Secondary School in Slough, west of London, recently told his pupils the true statement that most suicide bombers are Muslims, he was promptly sacked.

Within this unhealthy climate, the extreme opportunists of the Muslim Council of Britain have stepped into the fray. They have suggested that ALL state schools abandon policies of integration and equality to give Muslim pupils special privileges. Their recommendations can be found in a 72-page pdf document.

The MCB’s suggestions, such as excluding Muslims from drama or musical presentations associated with celebrating aspects of other religions, even though ALL pupils are bound by the National Curriculum to write out the Shahadah, have been widely condemned. The MCB wants all girls to be allowed to wear Muslim attire, even if this conflicts with school uniform policy. No parent/teacher meetings should be held during Ramadan, and Muslim pupils should not be encouraged to participate in art classes where they must make representations of humans.

Even Blair’s government condemned the MCB report. In Britain, the National Curriculum encourages children to visit mosques. Here, parents have stood up and won their right to prevent this happening. In November 2006, protests by the parents of 10-year olds at Atwood Primary School, Croydon, south London, prevented such a visit. This month, Hampshire Council admitted that some parents and pupils objected to school visits to mosques.

The chaotic situation in Britain can be blamed on many factors, particularly upon Tony Blair’s continual quest to impose multiculturalism upon a reluctant population. With no written constitution to refer to, there are no measures to counteract the insane whims of policy-makers. Many of those who formulate policy, such as the authors of the National Curriculum, have never been elected.

As Americans, I urge you to consider how lucky you are. The First Amendment guarantees you and your children certain rights. No one religion can be imposed upon pupils in state schools. Outrageous imams

Outrageous imams
Vasko Kohlmayer
In a move of breath-taking impudence, the flying imams now intend to extend their lawsuit against the United Airlines to an elderly couple who reported their suspicious behavior on the plane.

How revealing that they would do this at the time when one of their number, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, is confessing to numerous terrorist atrocities and plans to carry out even more.

This makes for a truly bizarre situation: On one hand, Muslims are committing terrorist acts against our country and people while at the same time they are suing us for reporting their suspicious behavior.

Could anything be more insane? How is it possible that we allow them to do this? When are we going to stand up and put these Islamist bullies in their proper place?

Hagee brought the House down

Hagee brought the House down
Pastor Dr. John Hagee spoke at the AIPAC Convention to 6200 members and brought the house down.

He is on the Board of Directors for Christians United For Israel (CUFI) together with Gary Bauer, Jerry Falwell, George Morrison et al.

Pamela of AtlasShrugs was there and videotaped his rousing, optimistic, courageous, uplifting speech.

The Jewish community will never be the same. Now, if only a Jew can stand up and make half the speech that Hagee made, Jews and Israel will be saved.

Nobody spoke at the convention about the harmful peace process, not the Israeli leadership nor the Jewish leadership in the US, but Hagee did.

Nobody spoke against the future dismemberment of Judea and Samaria, but Hagee did.

Nobody spoke in favour of a United Jerusalem, but Hagee did.

Nobody demanded that the so called Islamic moderates reign in the Islamists, but Hagee did.

Nobody took Saudi Arabia to task but Hagee did.

Nobody demanded victory but Hagee did.

Democrats – Empowering Conspiracy Theory Wackos

Democrats – Empowering Conspiracy Theory Wackos

Another month, another left-wing rag with another Christopher Katcham article about how shadowy Israeli spies were involved in 9/11. This time his oh-so-brave (and oh-so-rare) wide-eyed anti-Semitism anti-Zionism is in Counterpunch. Here he is in 2002, with an absolutely enormous article in Salon. And more recently, on Indymedia UK. Or – maybe our favorite – when some groupie posted him on misc.activism.progresive. That’s just the kind of community he runs in.

It’s OK. It’s not like the nuttiest of the nutroots are in control of the Democratic Party machinery. Except for how this week they are. Like last week and next week. Now in fairness: there are rational dKos voices that are not this crazy. Ditto for MoveOn.

But the pathological need to blame Bush and Israel for everything – along with the left’s continuing fascination with what they take to be representatives of the Third World – inevitably metastasizes into pathological hatred. One-fourth of the American people, remember, believe in some of the wackier 9/11 conspiracy theories. Now how many of that one-fourth do you think are passionately pro-Bush? As opposed to how many are passionately anti-Bush? And which side do you think the nutroots that control the Democratic party are on?

A Real CIA Outing

A Real CIA Outing
By Andrew Walden | March 16, 2007

Just two days after former vice presidential aide Lewis “Scooter” Libby was convicted in the Valerie Plame CIA case, anti-American war activists attempted to expose the identity of a CIA “clandestine agent” at a University of Hawaii-Hilo event. Twenty-five students gathered at UH Hilo on Thursday March 8 for a briefing on career opportunities with the Central Intelligence Agency. Their right of free assembly was obstructed by ten protesters including faculty, an administrator, and local Democratic Party figures.

Complaining that they were unable to complete their mission, protest leader, convicted federal felon, and ex-con Jim Albertini, whose misnamed Malu-Aina Peace Center also leads weekly anti-American war protests at the Hilo Federal Building explained, “Global HOPE leader Justin Avery, was told he could not use his video camera. Malu Aina peace organization also intended to take still photos and video of the presentation.” Hawaii Tribune-Herald photographer William Ing was also present; all photographers were warned by campus center officials that they would be removed by campus security if they attempt to take photos.

According to Beau Butts, former President of the UH Hilo Student Association, “Avery was filming the inside of the room and who was there from the door. He continued filming, walked in and sat down in the very front with the camera pointed at the CIA gentleman. Only after the gentleman mandated no photos or film of any kind did Avery turn off his camera and put the lens cap on. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some footage of the agent but I couldn’t know for sure. Snickering and inappropriate muttering continued throughout the entire presentation and continued interjections and allusions of CIA conspiracies regarding 9/11 were brought up.”

The Global HOPE Club at UH Hilo has at various times suggested that “Israelis” carried out the 9/11 attacks. They have also suggested that the CIA carried them out and they showed twice the movie 9/11 in Plane Site, made by ultra-right-wing conspiracy nuts, which claims that the US Air Force carried out the 9/11 attacks. 9/11 in Plane Site was also shown in 2005 at SKEA by then-Hawaii Island Journal sales and marketing director Tammy Rouleau. Albertini is a regular contributor to Hawaii Island Journal. Avery has written several articles for Big Island Weekly.

According to the Hawaii County Democratic Party website, Albertini is the President of Precinct 3-9. Avery, listed as Democratic President of Precinct 3-6, was endorsed in his failed District 4 council campaign by the Hawaii County Sierra Club. The Sierra Club’s Legislative Director was involved in a high profile altercation with Avery’s opponent, Stacey Higa at a hospital fundraiser in Kona shortly before Election Day. The Sierra Club endorsed Avery over Wendell Kaehuaea, who outpolled Avery in 2006 and had been endorsed by the Sierra Club in 2004. Sierra-Club-endorsed candidates now control the Hawaii County Council.

Said Albertini, “If the CIA ‘spook’ doesn’t want his photo taken then he shouldn’t be giving a public recruiting lecture at a public university.” Fortunately the Supreme Court has upheld the “Solomon Amendment,” which would cause complete loss of all federal funds to any school which does not allow military recruiters on campus. Leftist academics often lose interest in “sacred principles” when their paycheck is on the line. UHH Student Services Vice-Chancellor Keith Miser helpfully pointed out to the Star Bulletin March 10 that the university occasionally imposes bans on photography of individuals or of events such as performances.

Avery came to the event in a suit and with fake blood on his hands apparently trying to portray the CIA but looking more like a blood-stained Soviet Commissar. He and Albertini were joined by faculty members Noelie Rodriguez and Tim Freeman and International Student Services Director, Ruth Robinson and an unidentified activist who shed his civilian disguise to show his true appearance as the grim reaper waving large stacks of counterfeit money. Rodriguez is the spouse of Hawaii County Planning Director Chris Yuen.

Said Butts in a letter to Robinson, the protesters’ “behavior shows a lack of faith in student’s abilities to discern for themselves what is right and wrong and what they may or may not look into as a viable potential career opportunity.”

Norm Stahl, a retired Marine and director of the UHH Career Center explained, “the group …came into the room and interfered with our students right to get career information free of distraction.” Students interested in CIA careers were forced to move into Stahl’s office so they could have a discussion without disruption.

It is not clear whether any of the activists actually obtained photos of the CIA agent, who is identified in the Star Bulletin as, “Joe Dorsey, from the CIA West Coast Recruitment Office in Fountain Valley, Calif.” Dorsey was described as a “clandestine agent” by university officials. The anti-American activists are claiming that the identification of the agent gives them the right to expose his face. Apparently they have not noticed that all CIA representatives have conspicuously inconspicuous names like “Joe Dorsey.” Unlike Avery, who adopted a misspelled fake Hawaiian name for his failed council campaign, CIA agents are required to be able to both spell and pronounce their names.

What type of punishment is available for those who actually expose a clandestine agent of the CIA? Federal Law is clear on this issue; USC 50-421 section C reads:

Whoever, in the course of a pattern of activities intended to identify and expose covert agents and with reason to believe that such activities would impair or impede the foreign intelligence activities of the United States, discloses any information that identifies an individual as a covert agent to any individual not authorized to receive classified information, knowing that the information disclosed so identifies such individual and that the United States is taking affirmative measures to conceal such individual’s classified intelligence relationship to the United States, shall be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Albertini should be familiar with this: he spent one year in a federal penitentiary after diving into Hilo Bay in a failed 1984 effort to prevent a US Navy ship from docking.

Left-wing website Daily Kos’ diarist “KStreetProjector” has a different idea about punishment, explaining February 15: “The act of outing Valerie Wilson nee Plame was an act of Treason….Those involved should be hung. They have violated their oath, attacked our nation, violated their duty and are, to any sane reading: Domestic Enemies.”

Of course Plame was not a clandestine operative but a desk-bound CIA analyst and Democrat political operative whose covert career had been ended long before. The CIA believed her identity had been exposed in the 90s by Soviet spy Aldrich Ames. Richard Armitage, a Colin Powell ally and opponent of President Bush’s Iraq strategy, identified her in 2003 to columnist Robert Novak after her husband Joe Wilson started his media campaign to spread the lie that Saddam Hussein had not been attempting to acquire uranium in Niger, Africa.

If “KStreetProjector” were not just a political hack, logically what punishment would he and all the other leftists who have been howling about the Plame case for the last three-and-a-half years deem appropriate for their allies’ own attempt to “out” a real clandestine operative?

Israel’s Fifth Column

Israel’s Fifth Column
By David Bedein | March 16, 2007

There are more than one million Israeli Arabs — more than 15 percent of Israel’s population. These Israeli citizens have shown widespread support for Iran, causing the Israeli security establishment to worry. Israel’s General Security Service (GSS), the Israeli equivalent of the FBI, has warned about an alarming increase of subversive activity on behalf of Iran by Israel’s Arab minority.

This past week, the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs issued a report entitled “Iran Is Building ‘Hamastan’ in Gaza,” which documents how Iran is establishing a base in nearby Gaza, premised on “a growing strategic alliance between Iran and the radical Palestinian forces…”

It has not been forgotten that the PLO, the harbinger of local Arab revolution, was the first sponsor of the successful Iranian revolution. Iran was the first and only Islamic nation ever to hand over an Israeli embassy to the PLO. And Iran now emerges as the greatest champion of Palestinian Arab Islamic nationalism.

Last summer, the elected officials of the Israeli Arab members of the Israeli Knesset Parliament showed support for Hezbollah’s missile attacks on Israel. Since then, Israel’s security establishment has launched its own investigation of Israel’s Arab minority.

Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with GSS Director Yuval Diskin and other high-ranking security officials concerning the Arab minority in Israel, where the GSS provided a report to the Prime Minister concerning the continual decline in its identification with the state, the rise of subversive elements within it and the dangers that lie therein. Some high-ranking security officials said that the turn of events within the Arab minority constituted “the real, long term strategic threat” to the very existence of Israel as a Jewish state.

The GSS reports there has been a rise in the Israeli Arabs’ identification with the Palestinian terrorist organizations, and a rise in their identification with Iran, Hezbollah and other groups that reject the legitimacy of Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. All of this is done publicly and openly, and has been accompanied by incitement by the local Israeli Arab political leadership. That incitement has not been yet been dealt with by Israel’s law enforcement community. The GSS assessment indicates that the separatist and subversive trends that are reflected by the Israeli Arab leadership are liable to set the agenda and sweep the masses behind them.

One American organization that provides financial help to the Israeli Arab community to develop itself as a “Palestinian religious and national ethnic community” is the New Israel Fund. The GSS is now looking into the work of the NIF to determine whether this outside organization is an element that encourages subversive activity amongst the Israeli Arab population.

68 percent of the Jewish population in Israel fears the possibility that Israeli Arabs will begin a popular rebellion, while 63 percent do not enter Arab communities in Israel, according to a new poll issued this week by Haifa University. Meanwhile, 64.4 percent of Israeli Jewish citizens fear that the Arab citizens endanger national security because of their high birth rate, while 83.1 percent fear Israeli Arabs support of the Palestinians’ struggle and 73 percent believe that most of the Arab citizens will be more loyal to the state of Palestine than to the state of Israel.

Clearly the Israeli Fifth Column is hard at work trying to tear the country apart — and Iran is more than happy to help.

U.S. will give visa to Ahmadinejad for return trip to UN

U.S. will give visa to Ahmadinejad for return trip to UN
In a sane world, the UN would be expelling Iran from the UN for the Thug-In-Chief’s genocidal statements. “U.S. will give visa to Iranian president,” from AP:

WASHINGTON – The U.S. will approve Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s request for a visa so he can visit the U.N. as the Security Council moves to impose additional sanctions against his country for its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment.
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Friday that the United States has approved a U.S. visa for Ahmadinejad previously and will do so again, consistent with its obligations as host country for the United Nations.
