Da Vinci Code Fact and Fiction Part 2

We begin in the prologue of “Da Vinci Code” The curator of the Louvre Jacques Sauniere is being murdered by a giant albino. He pulls a painting from the wall and it triggers an alarm and dropped protective gates into place. The albino can’t get close to him now and leaves him to die. The albino says he killed three other associates of Sauniere. They are the keepers of the secrets of a ancient society. If he dies a secret will die with him. More on the secret later

The choice of Sauniere as a name for the curator seems contrived; it is also the name of an obscure French priest that supposedly discovered some Knights Templar treasure and documents. Follow this link for more on this http://www.crystalinks.com/rennes.html Notice that this is a new age website.

Sauniere now sets out to find a way to pass on the secret

“Staggering to his feet, he pictured his three murdered brethren. He thought of the generations who had come before them… of the mission with which they had all been entrusted. An unbroken chain of knowledge. Suddenly, now, despite all the precautions… despite all the fail-safes… Jacques Sauniere was the only remaining link, the sole guardian of one of the most powerful secrets ever kept. Shivering, he pulled himself to his feet. I must find some way….”
